Week 20 Review: A Court of Thorns and Roses

From Goodreads:
A thrilling, seductive new series from New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas, blending Beauty and the Beast with faerie lore.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R. R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!

My Review:
I loved reading this book so much! It is a Sarah J. Maas book, but the start of a new series, something not connected to the Throne of Glass series, so no 100% guarantee that it would be as good. But it was! Man, it was so good!

The world in this book, was truly dark! If I could describe the journey of dark this book went on, I would describe it like this; starting of dark and bleak, then even darker and scarier, before growing lighter, until it was the lightest! And then to about the levels of darkness from the beginning, before going the darkest, where it remained till the ending with the light at the end of the the tunnel.

These characters, oh man, they were so great to read about! Feyre the hunter who hated it, but out of necessity and survival used those skills. But who loved painting! Or Tamlin, who could've killed her, but took her to his home and treated her pretty decently.

The mystery of what was going on, the blight, and what that turned out to be, I loved reading about all that was happening, was just a pleasure! I guessed what the answer to the riddle after just a few lines of it, but I wasn't sure until she used the same answer and was right!

Man, what a book, what an ending! So good, so heart-wrenching, but readable! And while it wraps up most of the threads, making it feel like it could've been a stand alone, well, there's the matter of that island king to deal with! Such a great ending, and I can't wait for more!

I enjoyed this book so freaking much, another fantastic Sarah J. Maas book!
