Week 33 Review: Beautiful Lawman

From Goodreads:
From the wrong side of the tracks and with most of her family in jail or dead, Piper Walsh is used to everyone in town thinking the worst about her. It doesn't seem to matter that she’s worked hard to build a good life for herself. So she isn't surprised that when she comes into contact with Sweet Hill's wildly irresistible, arrogant sheriff, Hale Walters, they're instant adversaries. Piper has nothing in common with the town golden-boy-turned-lawman—and she refuses to be a notch on his bedpost.

Despite rumors, Hale avoids fooling around with the women of Sweet Hill, many of whom are hoping to get him to the altar. But staying out of Piper's path is proving near impossible. The infuriating troublemaker clearly has no respect for his badge. As she continues to push his buttons, it becomes clear to Hale that he must either arrest Piper—or claim her as his own.

My Review:
Oh, this book was fantastic! I really enjoyed reading about Piper and Hale, and how they're connected with the other characters in this series! Like, Hale is the brother of the heroine of book 3. And Piper has her brother in Devil's Rock, so she knows some of the former inmates.

It really sucks when your family has a bad reputation, and even though Piper hasn't done anything to deserve it, she's stamped with the same "troublemaker" and is thought of poorly. No fault of her own, though, which makes it even worse!

I really enjoyed their relationship, he's the sheriff, and she's from a law-breaking family. They shouldn't have had the opportunity to get as close as they did, but they did. Like their banter. And how he gave her a job, and let her stay at his place til she found a new one. She didn't want to depend on him or use him, and that made finding a balance important!

How things ended, with the truth about that night coming out...that was really satisfying. It's been hanging over her for so long, and to have the truth, that was just great! I'm really happy with how that was all resolved!

This was a fantastic book, and if we get more in this series, excellent!
