Week 9 Reviews: Archangel's Shadows, Fairy Balloons, Archangel's Enigma, Archangel's Heart, Elena's School of Horror, Archangel's Viper

From Goodreads:
In the wake of a brutal war, the archangel Raphael and his hunter consort, Elena, are dealing with the treacherously shifting tides of archangelic politics and the people of a battered but not broken city. The last thing their city needs is more death, especially a death that bears the eerie signature of an insane enemy archangel who cannot—should not—be walking the streets.

This hunt must be undertaken with stealth and without alerting their people. It must be handled by those who can become shadows themselves…

Ash is a gifted tracker and a woman cursed with the ability to sense the secrets of anyone she touches. But there's one man she knows all too well without a single instant of skin contact: Janvier, the dangerously sexy Cajun vampire who has fascinated and infuriated her for years. Now, as they track down a merciless killer, their cat-and-mouse game of flirtation and provocation has turned into a profound one of the heart. And this time, it is Ash's secret, dark and terrible, that threatens to destroy them both.

From Goodreads:
Naasir is the most feral of the powerful group of vampires and angels known as the Seven, his loyalty pledged to the Archangel Raphael. When rumors surface of a plot to murder the former Archangel of Persia, now lost in the Sleep of the Ancients, Naasir is dispatched to find him. For only he possesses the tracking skills required—those more common to predatory animals than to man.

Enlisted to accompany Naasir, Andromeda, a young angelic scholar with dangerous secrets, is fascinated by his nature—at once playful and brilliant, sensual and brutal. As they race to find the Sleeping archangel before it's too late, Naasir will force her to question all she knows...and tempt her to walk into the magnificent, feral darkness of his world. But first they must survive an enemy vicious enough to shatter the greatest taboo of the angelic race and plunge the world into a screaming nightmare…

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh takes us into a dangerous and exhilarating world where a deadly, beautiful archangel and his once-mortal consort are caught in a fury of twisted darkness…

One of the most vicious archangels in the world has disappeared. No one knows if Lijuan is dead or has chosen to Sleep the long sleep of an immortal. But with her lands falling into chaos under a rising tide of vampiric bloodlust, a mysterious and ancient order of angels known as the Luminata calls the entire Cadre together to discuss the fate of her territory.

Accompanying her archangelic lover Raphael to the Luminata compound, guild hunter-turned-angel Elena senses that all is not as it seems. Secrets echo from within the stone walls of the compound, and the deeper Elena goes, the uglier the darkness. But neither Raphael nor Elena is ready for the brutal truths hidden within—truths that will change everything Elena thinks she knows about who she is…

Nothing will ever be the same again.

From Goodreads:
Enter New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh's breathtakingly passionate Guild Hunter world with the story of a woman who isn't a vampire or an angel…or human…

Once a broken girl known as Sorrow, Holly Chang now prowls the shadowy gray underground of the city for the angels. But it's not her winged allies who make her a wanted woman—it's the unknown power coursing through her veins. Brutalized by an insane archangel, she was left with the bloodlust of a vampire, the ability to mesmerize her prey, and a poisonous bite.

Now, someone has put a bounty on her head…

Venom is one of the Seven, Archangel Raphael's private guard, and he's as infuriating as he is seductive. A centuries-old vampire, his fangs dispense a poison deadlier than Holly's. But even if Venom can protect Holly from those hunting her, he might not be able to save himself—because the strange, violent power inside Holly is awakening…

No one is safe.

My First Review of Archangel's Shadows, Archangel's Enigma, Archangel's Heart, Archangel's Viper
My second review of Archangel's Heart
My Review:
Loved reading the rest of this series again! Besides Archangel's Heart, I'd only read these books once before, so it was really great to read them again! I'd forgotten about Ash's siblings, or what Naasir was. Plus they're just plain enjoyable!

Of all the relationships that become a star in these books, Ash and Janvier's is the longest running. She snarked and he rejoined, and I just really enjoyed their interactions! Ash had the secret of what her ability has done to the other women in her family. And then there was the investigation into the Umber, as well as the really drained bodies. Loved how it all came together!

Naasir is pretty unique. I loved his POV, he had a different way of thinking, and I loved how Andi unexpectedly-even to him a bit-fit with him. I think this is the book were we saw more of this world, because they were in so many places!

Viper, oh, it's funny what I remembered and what I didn't. Like I remembered a angel that was overweight, but I thought he was in Heart. I remembered Holly and Venom traveling in secrecy to meet up with Raphael, but I forgot that they'd previously infiltrated the castle. Yeah.

Something that I'm thinking about, is that we have Illium and Aodham's books left of the Seven. And a way to have more books in this series beyond more Elena and Raphael books would be that we get more books starring Elena's Guard, like Archangel's Shadows. Because there's one or two members. And Vivek, as well, who I can't remember if he's joined the Guard or not, but if he hasn't, I'm pretty sure he's going to, and that he should get a book!

This series is so great, and I can't wait for Archangel's War! The wait is just evil!
