The ever after, the demonic realm that parallels the human world, is shrinking. If it disappears completely, so does all magic. It's up to witch-turned-daywalking-demon Rachel Morgan to avert catastrophe and keep life from changing... for the worse.
While saving the world is important, it isn't Rachel's only motivation. There's also the small fact that she caused the ley line to rip in the first place, setting off a chain reaction of unfortunate events. That little mistake has made her life forfeit unless she can fix it. It's also made her more than a few enemies, including the most powerful demon in the ever after—a terrifying entity who eats souls and now has an insatiable appetite for her. He's already kidnapped her friend and goddaughter to lure her out, and if Rachel doesn't give herself up soon, they'll die.
But Rachel has more than a few impressive and frightening skills of her own, and she isn't going to hand over her soul and her life without one hell of a fight. She's also got a surprise: elven tycoon Trent Kalamack. With this unlikely ally beside her—a prospect both thrilling and unnerving—she's going to return to the ever after, kick some demon butt, rescue her loved ones... and prevent an apocalypse before it's too late. Or, at least that's the plan...
My Review:
I enjoyed this book so much! Trent and Rachel kiss without any major prompting like in Pale Demon in getting her soul back in her body. So yeah, that was really awesome! Really can't wait for the next book, see how that's going to go!
I just loved this book so much! So much is going on, with the demons, and her ley line, and yeah, that was just so awesome, and dealing with Ku'Sox again, yeah, that wasn't too fun. And then Ceri! And Pierce! And Nick! That was just so sad, and aggravating, in there groupings!
When I think of this book now, what I think about, is the book where yeah, all the demon stuff is settled, and now it's, move on with other things, because besides Trent, things in her life are pretty good, her and Ivy are going to be friends, and Jenks is going to live longer because of the curse from AFoC, and yeah, just Trent, and kinda Al with whom her relationships have a few tweaks still needed!
That ending! That was just awesome, the way it worked out, that the demons did an Elf Wild Hunt on Ku'Sox, because if he survived, he could be counted as demon, if not, then yeah, he'd be dead. So he died! And then how Next claimed Nick, that was great! And then Al's offer for a circumcision curse for Trent! So cute, though said for the reason why he was drunk-Ceri.
I loved this book so much, and yeah, I can't wait for the next book, I know it's going to be so good!
