My Review:
Oh, this final book in the series! It was hard to read, because you know that by the end, that they're going to be enemies. And that hurts, you know? They were close in the first book, but they've been coming apart ever since her dad tried to kill her. Bah!

The ending of Mind Games was just evil! And this book picks up fairly quickly, though there's a few time jumps. That she's been imprisoned by her mom's friend, it was pretty infuriating. The whole situation wasn't very good, and Mori lets it darken her.

A lot of her actions in this book have a purpose, from saving her brothers to punishing those who helped her dad. It takes her down a really dark path, because hey, she kills her dad another people. And because of that, she can't be with Lock. Which really, really sucks!

That ending fit this book so perfectly! She defeated the bad guy, as well as escaped from the good guys. And honestly, I would really love another book in this series, when they're adults, because I want them to be able to get back together!

Loved reading this book, it was such a fantastic read!

Death Island: Review

There are only a few problems: her growing feelings toward a mysterious stranger linked to her great-grandfather's past; a greedy band of pirates after her great-grandfather's legendary treasure; and a contract she has unwittingly signed in blood with Ah Puch himself.

My Review:
Oh, yeah, this book was so fantastic! I made a lot of comparisons to Pirates of the Caribbean, especially in the beginning, a small-ish town under attack by pirates? Because they need a citizen because of something their ancestors did? Yeah.

First off, I want to get my one complaint off my chest. The writing was just a little bit over-much, sometimes, a bit wordy and awkward, that feeling of making it more complicated than it has to be. Other then that, I just have praises for this book!

There was both romance and adventure in this book! With pirates, what else can you expect? But I also enjoyed these characters and who they were, their stories, they were interesting and different! And it made me want to read about them!

That ending, that was just a little bit creepy! What with Ah Puch watching them, and knowing their future...yeah, that gave me the shivers! But even more so, what happened to the body of the Captain! Wow, that was a nightmare!

I enjoyed reading this book a lot, it was just really enjoyable!

Week 1 Review: The Fiery Cross

My Review:
Wow, this book was just freaking amazing! Taking place over the course of a year, a lot happened! The focus kinda shifted from Claire and Jamie to Brianna and Roger, which was really interesting, and kinda good, because Claire and Jamie don't need anymore conflict! But then there's the war coming, and then also, Bonnet becomes a problem again!

It's been awhile since I read of this series, and that's for a reason, I wanted to read the Lord John Grey series, because most of the series takes place during the 20 year separation in Voyager. But I've barely made a dent, so I decided to start back with this series! Bah! Hopefully I'll read them soon!

One big plotline was their Aunt Jocasta and future Uncle Duncan. Because apparently, Jocasta and 3 kids who all died, 2 as adult, and one as a child. Oh, and someone sent gold, and now someone wants it. So that was a fascinating mystery!

Jamie, and by extension, Claire, had to muster up an armed group to beat back rebellion. On one hand, they had some really good points, like how there's not really law and order or justice, just money, on the other, the war for independence doesn't happen just yet. So Jamie's in a hard spot, and it's just going to get worse from that!

There's also an update with the skull that Claire found in the previous book, that a journal of sorts that was his made its way to them. So that was an interesting update, and also led to them discovering more about time travellers, and how Roger is almost definitely Jemmy's dad.

So much happened in this book, and it was so great to read, I can't wait to read more!

Week 1 Review: Heart on Fire

My Review:
This book was just freaking amazing! Though for me, it wasn't as good as the first two books, it was still such a fantastic read! A lot happened, like some pretty big discoveries of how the Gods have been in her life, and that was just so great to read!

The main thing about this book, is that she knows she's pregnant, and so Cat is much more careful than she was in the previous books. Sure, there's still some pretty life-threatening events, but she doesn't through herself in as she did previously!

So the one brother that didn't like Cat, well, that came to a head, and that was a very emotional scene! Like, when it's too late, he finds out about the pregnancy. Though he still shouldn't have done what he did even without that, because that was just horrible!

The ending was a bit shorter, and I do wish that it was longer! With that whole, her being Hope, yeah, that was a pretty big deal, but that ending with her mom, that showdown was short, and then the ending was short. I just wanted more! I wanted to see more of their happy ending!

There apparently will be spin off books, for characters that will get happy endings, which I'm really excited for, there's a few of them, that I want them to be happy! So excited for more books by Amanda Bouchet!

Random Reads is a monthly meme (that I'm going to do weekly) hosted by I'm Loving Books to read some books that have been on our TBR piles for a long time. Using Random.org, I got 6861 which turned out to be This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada! It's been on my TBR pile since August 13th 2017, and I added it because it sounded fantastic! Happy reading!

Last Letter, First Letter Reading Challenge 2018

OK, so I got 27 posts in 7 days, which is a pretty decent week! Plus the end of a year! Pretty good year. What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read Before She Ignites, Deacon Locke Goes to Prom, Extraordinary Means, Like a River Glorious, Meet Me Here, A Perfect Obsession, Radio Silence, Talon, and This Darkness Mine.

Last Letter, First Letter Reading Challenge 2018

So doing this again, and yeah, I hope to read a lot of books! Like, more then I did last year, because that was less than 10 books.

What it is:
You pick a book, read it. Then you look at the last letter of the title, for example, "The Adventures of Tom Saywer." Then you take that last letter, and search you TBR piles for a book starting with the last letter, so continuing the example, someone could read "Rotters" next, and then a title that starts with "s."

Rules:
1. Have fun!
2. Read!
3. The last letter of the book you read must be the first letter of the next book you read.
4. Words like "the," "a," "and," and those such don't count as the first letter.

Some other details:
Sounds like fun? Hopefully!  This way, well, there's always going to be a last letter of a title, even if you have to spell out a number. And our TBR piles should hopefully go down a bit!

And if anyone would like to participate (hopefully you do!) leave a link or something? And a plea is going out: if people like this reading challenge (and I hope I'm not copying someone else's meme) would they please create a banner/picture thing for it since I'm helpless at that sort of thing? Thanks!
