Week 3 Review: Wither

From Goodreads:
What if you knew exactly when you would die?

Thanks to modern science, every human being has become a ticking genetic time bomb—males only live to age twenty-five, and females only live to age twenty. In this bleak landscape, young girls are kidnapped and forced into polygamous marriages to keep the population from dying out.

When sixteen-year-old Rhine Ellery is taken by the Gatherers to become a bride, she enters a world of wealth and privilege. Despite her husband Linden's genuine love for her, and a tenuous trust among her sister wives, Rhine has one purpose: to escape—to find her twin brother and go home.

But Rhine has more to contend with than losing her freedom. Linden's eccentric father is bent on finding an antidote to the genetic virus that is getting closer to taking his son, even if it means collecting corpses in order to test his experiments. With the help of Gabriel, a servant Rhine is growing dangerously attracted to, Rhine attempts to break free, in the limted time she has left.

My first review of Wither
My Review:
Wither is just a book, if you love YA dystopia, you should read. It might raise your blood pressure, what with the kidnapping, killing, child brides, and girls dying at 20 and guys at 25, and all that jazz, but it's just a book that just needs to be read if you meet the above criteria!

Just rereading this book, it talks about the weather, and seeing as it says that Florida is getting snow, I'm thinking that in addition to wrecking their genetics, something happened to the world, because the one time I visited the small touristy area of Orlando, Florida in December, there was no snow.

Oh, Jenna. You only have your brief time in this book, and while Linden and Cecily aren't in Fever, they are in Sever. You're the only one that's only got this short bit in this book, and it's too bad that we hardly got to know you, just that you had sisters who were got left in the van to be killed (though Linden didn't know that!)

The only one in this book that I didn't feel sorry for, was Vaughn. He was just evil, and he was the bad guy, and he did bad things. He's only redeeming quality is his love of his son, and that just urges him to commit further bad acts! Everyone else deserves a measure of pity, living in that world!

Favourite line: "He's the most discontent baby on the planet. Probably means he's the most intuitive." Given the way the world is in this book, I'm agreeing with Rhine!

This was just an excellent book, and such a pleasure to reread!
