Week 28 Reviews: Secret Sacrament, Time of the Eagle

From Goodreads:
Can one man be the salvation of two nations?

Gabriel is a thinker, a healer, a dreamer. His past haunts him, and his future is intertwined with ancient prophecies. He is a son of the Navoran Empire, yet his soul can only find peace with the wild Shinali people on the outshirts of the city. He can interpret the dreams of the Empress and heal the wounded of her city, but as sinister forces take control of the empire, Gabriel's destiny may be far greater than he can possibly imagine.

Sherryl Jordan has crafted a powerful fantasy novel about a young man destined to become the link between two warring cultures.

From Goodreads:
An unforgettable tale of fate, betrayal, and the power of love and faith

Avala dreams of becoming a healer, but her dreams are not the same as her destiny. Hers is a mighty but lonely fate, for she is the chosen one—the one who will bring the Time of the Eagle, when the hunted will become the hunters and win back their freedom. It is a destiny that requires the spirit of a warrior and the heart of a healer. But does Avala have the courage to set the Eagle on its flight?

This epic companion to Secret Sacrament is full of intrigue, adventure, and fantasy, as one girl, born to greatness, must decide whether to follow her dreams or fulfill her destiny.

My first review of Time of the Eagle
My Review:
Yeah, I really enjoyed reading these books again! I first read Time of the Eagle way back, like maybe in 2008. I only then read Secret Sacrament later, and then even later, Time of the Eagle, well, I'd started blogging by then. So it was really great to read these two back to back!

I remembered both the endings of these books, but not how they got there, like when the tribe was imprisoned at the fort, or how Avala defeated the bad guy. So it was really great to go on these journeys with these characters!

One small connection between them was that Gabriel healed the bad guy's daughter. And that healing was mentioned, as well as that daughter being the only one who wasn't executed who got tried, because she was a good person. I just loved that connection!

I also loved how loving the Citadel people were. They were warm and caring, and just incredible to read about! And that made it easier, when she was made a slave, knowing that her time with them was coming up, because it came close to pressing my buttons!

Loved reading these so much, they're such great reads!
