Week 26 Review: The Morning Star

From Goodreads:
St. Petersburg, Russia, 1890

Katerina Alexandrovna, Duchess of Oldenburg, wants to be known as a doctor, not a necromancer. But Tsar Alexander III forbids women to attend medical school; his interest in Katerina extends only to her ability to raise the dead. Twice now, Katerina has helped him by using her power to thwart the forces of darkness—vampires bent on resurrecting the lich tsar Konstantin Pavlovich so that he can take what he sees as his rightful place on the throne. Katerina thought she had bound Konstantin to the Greylands, the realm of the dead, but he has found a way out. Now he is searching for the Morning Star, a sword that will allow him to command a legion of supernatural warriors.

Katerina must find the sword before Konstantin does—and she must travel to Egypt to do so. Along the way, she puts up with unwanted attention from her former fiancé, the nefarious Prince Danilo, and struggles with her feelings for her true love, George Alexandrovich. But with the looming threat from Konstantin, Katerina's focus remains on the sword. Russia's fate will be determined by whoever wields the Morning Star—and delivers the final blow.

My first review of The Morning Star
My Review:
Oh, I really enjoyed this book! So good, and it was nice to read it back to back with the first 2, and while I'm still a bit confuffled, too bad, because this is the second time that I've read it, and yeah, it's just small, little things that are unresolved.

I loved the journey that Katerina goes on in this book, because this is the first time that she actually really leaves Russia, because that time in The Gathering Dark doesn't count. So yeah, it was nice to go to Africa in this book, and then in the end, France!

This is the book that Katerina truly comes into her powers, to fight someone that she's been fighting since book 1, the Lich Tsar, to the lover of said bad guy, someone that tricked and manipulated her, and then how the Lich Tsar manipulated Katerina to get his lover back? Yeah, that sucked!

I really enjoyed Danilo in this book, because he's been an asshole the whole series, besides when he's at
100% of his charms, but he was sarcastic, and funny, and he made sense in his own way, even while he's being controlled by the Lich Tsar, who, by the way, should just give up, he doesn't have that much of a claim on the throne, he gave it! So it was nice to learn that, too!

Yeah, this was a pretty good book, a great ending, and yeah, I can't wait to read what Robin Bridges writes next!
