Week 25 Reviews: Burning Wild, Wild Fire

From Goodreads:
The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Dark Carpathian novels now returns to the exotic, sensual and dangerous world of her bestseller Wild Rain.

This time, what goes on between male and female is wilder than animal instinct-and twice as hot.

Born into a world of twisted monsters, Jake Bannaconni is shaped and molded into a cold, revenge driven man. Honed in the fires of hell, he controls his world and rules with an iron hand. He has everything and anything money can buy. He's ruthless, merciless and considered a man to leave alone. His hidden legacy, that of a shapeshifter, makes him doubly dangerous in the corporate world.

Emma Reynolds is a woman who knows how to love and love well. When their two worlds collide, Jake's plans for a complete take over, may just come tumbling down.

From Goodreads:
Leopard shifter Connor Vega carries the scent of a wild animal in its prime, and bears the soul-crushing sins of past betrayals. Isabeau Chandler's never forgiven him-or forgotten him. The mating urge is still with her, and hotter than ever. Dangerously hot...
My Review:
These were 2 really good books! I really enjoy Christine Feehan's writing (if the romance scenes/words are getting a bit repetitive) and these were 2 great couples, if I'd forgotten that I'd already read Wild Fire before, but since that was 2 years ago, giving myself a pass on that, because I can hardly (sometimes ever) remember what I've read this week!

These were real people, if in a world where shape shifting happens, of Jake, and how he called his parents "The enemies" and how he blocked himself away from his deeper emotions, love especially, and how Emma helps him out of his shell. That was really great!

That Emma knew that Jake was a leopard before, because of her mom? That was a pretty cool twist, because it just wasn't mentioned, but it was there, so yeah, that was pretty great! Hated that the group thought that they deserved Emma because her dad was related to one of them, and had paid him to bring Emma's mom to the US to breed leopards who could shape shift. That was just horrible!

Isabeau and Conner's relationship, started before the book began, and I don't remember if the mission that he was on that involved Isabeau, was in Wild Rain or not. Besides that, well, he did some thing that was rather no-no between mates-he used her to get to her dad, and the group that her dad was working for. Working in his favour, though, is that he didn't know that she was his mate. So there was that.

I still wonder about why Conner didn't come back and at least visit with his mom, after all, she's the only blood family that he had before this book that he accepted (because his dad is an asshole!) And I'd have liked a confrontation between him and his dad, because his dad really deserves a knocking down a peg or two, doing what he did to Conner and his brother's mom's.

Yeah, these were 2 pretty great books, enjoyed them, and must read more of this series!
