Katie Ellison is not a liar.
But she can't exactly tell the truth, either--not when she's juggling two boyfriends, secretly hating the high school football team everyone else worships, and trying to have the best summer ever. At least Katie has it all under control (sort of). Her biggest secret, what really happened the night Tommy Sullivan is a freak was spray-painted on the junior high gymnasium wall, is safe.
That is, until Tommy comes back to town. Katie is sure he's going to ruin all her plans, and she'll do anything to hang on to her perfect existence. Even if it means telling more lies. Even if, now that Tommy's around, she's actually--truthfully--having the time of her life.
My first review of Pants on Fire
My Review:
Oh, this was such a hilarious book! I mean, there's her 2 boys, one her official boyfriend, Seth, a football Quahog-a clam that is so important to this town, it's ridiculous, and the guy who she kisses a lot in dark corners, Eric, the tragic actor guy.
Then Tommy comes back, and things like all the lies that Katie tell, start to ravel at the seams, and while there's the whole she's running to be Quahog Princess, her brother is trying out, and making the younger football team. And why Tommy is called a freak? Because he exposed the fact that some of the Quahog football players, like Seth's older brother, cheated on their SAT's.
Tommy and Katie were friends, but she didn't want to go down with him, to lose her place up with the popular group, so she wrote the freak in the graffiti, to keep them from writing something worse, but yeah, that wasn't the best of decisions!
So she repents them by telling everyone at the Qauhog Princess event about that, and tells off the town with their obsession with the Quahog, and the fact that she actually doesn't like them, yeah, there was that, and it was a pretty epic speech!
Loved this book, loved rereading it, and yeah, happy that Katie and Tommy got a HEA!
