"Well, Antonius," the magistrate said, "you are without question a licentious and disreputable young man. You have disgraced a noble patrician name and sullied your character in the lowest of pursuits, and we have received testimony that you are not only a drunkard and a gambler—but an outright murderer as well."
With an opening like that, the old vulture was sending him to the block for sure. Antony shrugged, philosophically; he'd known it was unlikely his family could have scraped together enough of a bribe to get him let go. Claudius's family was a damn sight richer than his; and in any case he could hardly imagine his stepfather going to the trouble.
Breakfast in Dover, with complications.
Set between the events of His Majesty's Dragon and Throne of Jade.
After their fateful adventure in China, Captain Will Laurence of His Majesty's Aerial Corps and his extraordinary dragon, Temeraire, are waylaid by a mysterious envoy bearing urgent new orders from Britain. Three valuable dragon eggs have been purchased from the Ottoman Empire, and Laurence and Temeraire must detour to Istanbul to escort the precious cargo back to England. Time is of the essence if the eggs are to be borne home before hatching. Yet disaster threatens the mission at every turn thanks to the diabolical machinations of the Chinese dragon Lien, who blames Temeraire for her master's death and vows to ally herself with Napoleon and take vengeance.
Roxy heads underground to a vampire club and meets Dru.Spoiler: Sexy stuff happens. A lot of it. Oh, and there are fangs involved
Enter a world of immortal danger and desire—and discover an incredible fate borne of blood.
Tendra:
One minute, I'm a bartender in gritty Mission City; the next, I'm whisked away by a vampire named Athan who tells me that I'm the lifeblood of his clan. It sounds unbelievable, but he's got evidence I can't deny. Turns out, Athan belongs to an underground society of vampires who feed only on humans with their consent. Their enemies have no such qualms, and they want me dead. The only thing standing in their way is strong, sexy Athan. And the closer we get, the more tempted I am to let Athan feed. . . .
Athan:
How could I have known when I snatched this snarky, beautiful human off the streets that she would change my destiny? As a loyal soldier, I must deliver Tendra to our future king—my brother. Empowered with the blood of ten generations of the Gregorie breed, she is fated to rule as our queen. But there's something between us that's so intoxicating, so carnal, I can't help wanting Tendra for myself . . . even if it's treason.
In the midst of supernatural chaos, worlds and hearts collide.
Celia: Having never known my parents, I've always felt like an orphan. All I want is a normal life. But after I'm attacked in my bedroom by one vampire—and rescued by another—it's about time to give up on "normal" once and for all. Idris, the second in command of the Gregorie vampire clan, has come to my aid, but his motives for saving me are unclear. And what surprises me most is my attraction to his heated gaze. . . .
Idris: Terror. Curiosity. Arousal. These are the natural impulses of a human female, not the spawn of the ruthless Valarian king. Is it possible that Celia is unaware of her bloodline—and the power coursing through her veins? As the daughter of my archenemy, she was supposed to be my ransom. But how quickly the heat of desire changes everything. Now the family Celia has always craved is trying to kill her, and it's up to me to save her again—when all I really want to do is make her mine.
Noemi Vidal has returned to her planet, Genesis, as an outsider. Ostracized for refusing to sacrifice Abel, the galaxy's most advanced mechanical man, she dreams of traveling through the stars one more time. And when a deadly plague arrives on Genesis, Noemi gets her chance. As the only soldier to have ever left the planet, it will be up to her to save its people...if only she wasn't flying right into a trap.
Abel, now fully aware of his soul and captaining his own ship, never thought he'd get to see Noemi again, not when the entire universe stands between them. But when his creator, Burton Mansfield, delivers news of Noemi's capture, Abel must go to her, no matter the cost.
In a race against time, Abel and Noemi band together to stop Mansfield once and for all. The depraved scientist has engineered a way to achieve immortality, but that technology comes with perils of its own. Abel and Noemi are about to discover a secret that could save Genesis and Earth...or destroy them all.
