Week 26 Review: Dark Guardian

From Goodreads:
They were masters of the darkness, searching through eternity for a mistress of the light....

He ran with the wolves...materialized from the mists...hijacked the very heavens to his whims.

He was the dark guardian of his people. So how, after centuries of a bleak, soulless existence had he, Lucian Daratrazanoff, suddenly come to crave petite, curvy, colorful lady cop Jaxon Montgomery, who foolishly made it her life's work to protect others from harm?

Fiercely daring, Jaxx would sacrifice anything to shield others-- particularly since a deadly menace dogged her every footstep, threatening all who got close to her. And strangely seductive, piercingly erotic Lucian was no exception. Lucian was powerfully, perilously mesmerizing--oddly gentle yet clearly a born predator. He had vowed to possess her, to guard her for all time. Yet with his every thirsty kiss, was he drawing Jaxon more deeply into danger . . . and his dark, mysterious desires?

My Review:
Oh, I loved this book so much! It was just so good, and awesome! And that the main threat is a human, Jaxx's step-dad, in the end, well, yeah, that wasn't nice. But that past and history is what shaped Jaxx into the person she is, and I don't think either one of them would want her to be different!

So Jaxx's past is pretty horrible. First she loses her dad-in what it turns out to be by the guy who becomes her step-dad, then her mom and brother, and the the family that adopted her basically. So a lot of loses at a young age, which made her very guarded. But Lucian helps with that!

I loved that scene, when they got to her precinct, and that there's the whole thing where he's told the world that they're engaged, and all that, and the situation that it caused, because yeah, that was Lucian being an all-knowing, very old Carpathian! But it ends pretty well in the end!

It's just a tiny bit hilarious that the all powerful, 1000 or more year old Lucian was taken down temporarily by a human and a long range gun. Even after Jaxx warned him. But she heals him, and while there was the panic that he'd die, he didn't, and they won in the end! So yeah, great ending!

I just really enjoyed this book so much, it was really great! I want more!
