Sadie Kingston, is a girl living in the aftermath. A year after surviving a car accident that killed her friend Trent and left her body and face scarred, she can't move forward. The only person who seems to understand her is Trent's brother, Max.
As Sadie begins to fall for Max, she's unsure if she is truly healed enough to be with him — even if Max is able to look at her scars and not shy away. But when the truth about the accident and subsequent events comes to light, Sadie has to decide if she can embrace the future or if she'll always be trapped in the past.
My Review:
This was a really great book! It was a bit hard to read, because yeah, these characters have been through a pretty major trauma, and this is the book of them slowly healing. But it was also meaningful to read!
It was a pretty sucky situation all around. First their friend dies, leaving everyone behind scarred, both physically and mentally for some of the characters. And then her best friend and boyfriend end up together. Before her boyfriend became her ex. Yeah.
One of my favourite parts of this book, was the emails between Sadie and Max that happened in the year before this book starts, leading up to when this book starts, they were the story of them falling in love, and it was sweet, because it added so much detail and history to this book!
Really enjoyed that ending, it was sweet, and it was a bit bittersweet, but the bad things were let go, and things were better than they were before, and relationships were healing damages. And since they were friends before this all happened, and they didn't mean anyone to get hurt, well, that's a good thing!
Yeah, this was a really fantastic and enjoyable book!
