Only one witch can rise above the coming storm ...
When Tudor witch Meg Lytton receives an unexpected legacy - her mother's magical wand, ring and spellbook - she has no idea her future happiness is in danger. For the witchfinder Marcus Dent is back in her dreams, and he will use any weapon to gain her newfound powers for himself.
Now Meg must discover the secret of Invictus, her mother's magical ring. Summoned back to Hatfield, she knows a battle is coming. But Meg is no longer alone in her struggle against Dent. Surrounded by her friends, she faces her greatest challenge head-on: losing Alejandro, her beloved. For it seems the Spanish novice has been keeping secrets from them all.
Powers clash and hearts break in the spellbinding third book of The Tudor Witch Trilogy.
My Review:
This was a really awesome book! I do have a few nitpicks, but those are mine. Like, how the face is real, and not all beautiful colours with the cover. Because that makes it different from the other two. Or how this book doesn't feel like the end of the series!
So backtracking, first, it was just so freaking great to be with these characters again! Meg, headstrong witch in a time of hanging or burning of witches, and heretics, those not of the Catholic faith. Alejandro, a warrior priest-in-training, and with a secret engagement to Meg. And newish character, Richard, magical apprentice of John Dee. Yeah. That was really great!
The one big thing for this book, is that Meg is lead to her mom's stash of witch-y things. Like a pretty powerful wand. And her book of spells and such. And a pretty strange ring. That was really interesting and awesome to read about! Espcially how things worked out in this book!
Brining me to the not end of the series thing. Because it doesn't-Marcus Dent is still alive, and he has the ring, and the book, and he's not dead. So it doesn't feel resolved yet! Sure, there were great things with getting rid of Alejandro's curse, and the marriage, but Dent being alive, well, I want another book or something to resolve that!
Favourite lines: "If Marcus returns, I will lose no time in running for help while he hops after me, fixing me with his beady eye." Well, he's probably not still a bird, but this is funny! "Oh, nothing. Only remind me to skip supper if you're cooking." Yeah, seeing as it's dead toad, and "a delicious supper" is only a cover for witchcraft!
Yeah, this was a really amazing book! I just really want more!
