Week 27 Review: Red Handed

From Goodreads:
She's been chosen to fight the elusive enemy among us....
Phoenix Germaine has been trying to earn back her mother's trust after going into rehab and kicking Onadyn -- the drug of choice for New Chicago teens. But when a party in the woods turns into an all-out battle with the most ferocious aliens Phoenix has never seen, she's brought home in what appears to be an Onadyn-induced state. Hello, reform school.

Except, what her mother doesn't know is that Phoenix has just been recruited to join the elite Alien Investigation and Removal agency, where she'll learn to fight dirty, track hard, and destroy the enemy. Her professional training will be rigorous and dangerous, and the fact that one of her instructors is Ryan Stone -- the drop-dead gorgeous, nineteen-year-old agent she met in the woods that night -- doesn't make things any easier. Especially when dating him is totally against the rules....

My Review:
Oh, wow, what a great book! From Phoenix, who's a ex-addict who's mom didn't believe Phoenix when she said she didn't relapse-and she didn't-to Ryan, the son of the founder of AIR, her instructor, and one of the ones who was there at the battle that led to her mom's belief in Phoenix's relapse. Yeah.

I loved her training, and how she went from a girl who fought when she saw unfairness, to a girl who fought unfairness in a badass way! She learned about aliens-their bodies, their strengths and weaknesses-how to fight, just how to be an AIR agent, which was awesome, since there's been 2 adult alien huntress books so far in the series!

Loved Ryan's sister, and Phoenix's interactions, and how as a punishment, they're forced to spend time together, and it's only near the end where they find some common ground where they wouldn't burst into fight if one of them irritated the other.

This book also set up for Blacklisted, because it ends a year later, where Phoenix has graduated-and can be with Ryan, whoo!-and her first mission is to bring in Erik, and I can't wait to read that book, because yeah, more Gena Showalter books!

Loved this book so much, must read more now!!!
