When you can't trust yourself, who can you believe?
Everything about Anna’s life is a secret. Her father works for the Branch at the helm of its latest project: monitoring and administering treatments to the four genetically altered boys in the lab below their farmhouse. There’s Nick, Cas, Trev . . . and Sam, who’s stolen Anna's heart. When the Branch decides it's time to take the boys, Sam stages an escape, killing the agents sent to retrieve them.
Anna is torn between following Sam or staying behind in the safety of her everyday life. But her father pushes her to flee, making Sam promise to keep her away from the Branch, at all costs. There's just one problem. Sam and the boys don’t remember anything before living in the lab—not even their true identities.
Now on the run, Anna soon discovers that she and Sam are connected in more ways than either of them expected. And if they're both going to survive, they must piece together the clues of their past before the Branch catches up to them and steals it all away.
My Review:
I enjoyed this book so much! It was interesting, and awesome and I just wanted to read it! Between the whole genetically altered boys, and the secrets that abound, and the way that they find the clues, it was just so awesome!
The beginning, well, I have a thing against people being imprisoned. It's one of my buttons. For books that I'm rereading, I know when it's going to end. In new books, I don't know, but the synopsis made it seen like they got pretty early on in the book, so I trusted that, and it happened, and I was fine. And so were they, mostly!
The secrets! I mean, how they are all connected, it's something of a mystery. And I really need to read the prequel novella, because I think it's going to be very important in the long run! I mean, because she's Anna's sister and all!
I want to read more of this series! It was so interesting, I enjoyed the dynamics, they were really interesting, and how different the boys are, not just in abilities, but in personalities, and how they treated Anna, and yeah, I just want more!
I enjoyed this book a lot, and I'm really going to have to read more soon!
