Week 6 Review: The Empty Throne

From Goodreads:
How do you find the strength to save your kingdom when you've lost everything?

Anya has failed in her mission to bring Prince Zabriel back to the Faerie realm of Chrior so that he can ascend his rightful throne. Instead, Zabriel, her prince, cousin and dear friend, is standing trial for crimes committed under the false name William Wolfram Pyrite. Worst of all, the last possible heir to the Faerie throne is Illumina—the cousin Anya suspects of the foulest betrayal possible.

In a desperate last attempt to put things right, Anya must partner with the unlikeliest of allies and venture into ever more dangerous situations if there is to be any hope of peace for her people.

My Review:
This was such a great book! I loved the first one, and I've enjoyed all of Cayla Kluver books, and this one was no exception! It was much darker then the previous book, and Anya makes some bad choices, but it was just so good to be in this world again with these characters! Like the fact that some of Anya's bad choices lets us see her life about 2 years before, in the situation surrounding when Zabriel left Chroir!

There were a ton of twists in this book! From the whole thing surrounding Zabriel, and that he's imprisoned by the government under his alias William Wolfram Pyrite, and that news is supposed to be taken to his mom, the Queen, in Chroir, so she's supposed to be coming, and all those twists! There was a really big event in this book that was such a shocker!

The Queen's Anlace is a good deal of this story. Anya feels that since she failed with Zabriel, that she should at least have gotten that back. And yeah, that lead to some not so good situations! And if their crime scene guys were as good as ours, or at least our TV versions, which are the only ones that I have experience in (watching) then Anya wouldn't had so much to worry there!

I really enjoyed the ending! It wasn't as much as a cliffhanger as the previous one, with the whole Illumina maybe the one that orchestrated the taking of Anya's wings, and yeah, that bit of hope made up for the darkness of the rest of the book!

I enjoyed this book so much, it was just so freaking fantastic, now I want the 3rd and final book so much!
