From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Princess Diaries series, comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy tale wedding--but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily-ever-after into a royal nightmare.
For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia's gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn't need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royal oui.
But now Mia has a scandal of majestic proportions to contend with: Her grandmother's leaked "fake" wedding plans to the press that could cause even normally calm Michael to become a runaway groom. Worse, a scheming politico is trying to force Mia's father from the throne, all because of a royal secret that could leave Genovia without a monarch. Can Mia prove to everyone--especially herself--that she's not only ready to wed, but ready to rule as well?
My Review:
I loved that I was approved for this book! I even wrote a blog post about it! There were a few things, like Mia's use of iTriage, the Rate the Royal site, her wedding to Michael, that the paparazzi is sometimes right and know things before you do, and Olivia, well, Mia has a lot going on!
So it was really so much fun to read this book, because when Mia finds out about Olivia, she's conflicted about what to do, what with the election coming up. And what she knows it right, is hard to know, because being brought into the spotlight as being a Princess, well, Mia knows a thing or two about that! And she reads through her diary, the first book, of that time, because Olivia was conceived around that time, and she couldn't find anything that could hint to that. Which shows how Mia's grown up! This is a grown up novel with grown up-and still royal-concerns!
Oh, I loved that mention of Prince Rashid! Because I'm 80% sure that it's the same prince from The Bride Wore Size 12! Which means that this series, and the Heather Wells mystery series, are in the same world! So that's really awesome! And how that support added for some conflict, that Olivia, clever Olivia, figured out how to solve!
The pop culture references! From Hunger Games to Pretty Little Liars, Teen Wolf and Vampire Diaries, all show I watch, to emojis, to Grandmere's contact name on Mia's phone being El Diablo, I just utterly loved this! And that one scene with her dad, and watching the Love It or List It, I've seen some episodes of that! And they listed in the two episodes I've seen, too!
Most of this book takes place in less then 2 weeks. Which is pretty quick. And then the wedding, which was a bit later, because as Mia points out, that they had a lot to do, they were very busy, so she didn't have time to write in her diary. But I loved how things wrapped up, that Lily did what she did, that it was Tina in those photos, and was photo shopped out so that the girl would be in, and that it was him who was her stalker! And she married Michael! Such a great book! I loved it!
This was such a fantastic, wonderful, lovable, incredibly, indescribably incandescent book! I loved it so much!
