Since the beginning of mankind, civilizations have fallen: the Romans, the Greeks, the Aztecs… and now us. Huge earthquakes rock the world. Cities are destroyed. But something even more awful is happening: An ancient evil has been unleashed, and it's turning everyday people into hunters, killers, and crazies.
This is the world Mason, Aries, Clementine, and Michael are living in—or rather, trying to survive. Each is fleeing unspeakable horror, from murderous chaos to brutal natural disasters, and each is traveling the same road in a world gone mad.
Amid the throes of the apocalypse and clinging to love and meaning wherever it can be found, these four teens are on a journey into the heart of darkness—and to find each other and a place of safety.
My Review:
I really enjoyed reading this book! Most books, when they are dystopians, well, they're usually set after the apocalypse. But this one, well, set during it, and it was just a thrilling and fantastic ride! And yeah, that there's going to be more, because it's a series!
So there were a few POV's, which meant that we got to see a bigger coverage of what was going on. At least in the beginning, because as the book went on, the characters started to met up, and that's when things really got going!
I really enjoyed the bit on that we interpreted fallen societies. Because we do. There's nobody who was around during them, or during their fall, that can tell us what happened. So archaeologists and historians and such have to find clues, and extrapolate data from them. Which means this happening, could possibly happen, no matter how unlikely!
One thing that I didn't expect to find, was that this book was funny! It was dark, and it wasn't through the whole book, but it was there, and that just made everything so much better! A smile is better then crying, at least for those around you!
Really fantastic book, I enjoyed reading it so much, and I can't wait for the sequel!
