Week 5 Review: The Stone Demon

From Goodreads:
After being tricked into opening the doorway to the Demon Realm by Aliette, the Wood Queen, Donna Underwood is faced with a terrible ultimatum from the newly released demon hordes. They demand that the alchemists deliver the Philosopher's Stone, or their reaper storm will plunge the world into a devastating modern-day Dark Age.

Donna is sent to London, England, where she must complete her alchemist's training and learn how to recreate the Stone. But time is running out. Between facing the vengeful demon king, Demian, and collecting the Stone's elements, Donna realizes she must give her own life in order to succeed. And this time, even braving death may not be enough to save the world.

My Review:
Oh, I thought I'd enjoy this book so much more then I did! There's been something about this series that I haven't liked, and I've never pinpointed it, but somehow, in this book, it was the worst. And that sucked, because I have enjoyed this series. Just not as much as I have other series.

So this is the book where things really heated up. Because before, she was only facing off against humans or Fae. But now it's demons-a demon king in particular-so the threat level has gone to the highest DEFCON threat level (I don't know if the levels the threat gets higher or lower the number!)

That we learned a bit about the Maker, the one that was the mastermind behind Donna's tattoos, well, that was really great. And oh, that one of his other names is Hephaestus? Well, I recognize that name, and that if he's the same one from myths, well, that fits so well!

I really enjoyed how everything came together, all the little bits and pieces, it made for a really great ending! Some sadness, because there were some sacrifices made, but since the world didn't end with an apocalypse, that's a plus!

I enjoyed this book a lot! I just had a few issues that I don't know where they stemmed from, but were there. It was really frustrating! But really good book!
