2068
1.5 million kilometers above the surface of the Earth
Drusilla Xao has only seen a tree in movies and vid-games. She has never breathed air that wasn't recycled, re-filtered, and re-used a hundred times over again. She has never set foot on the Earth.
And now she never will.
When a terrorist attack by a radical separatist group on Luna destroys the space elevator that had called so many – including her parents – to live permanently in space, Dru is cut off from any hope of ever reaching Earth and her beloved girlfriend, Sarah. The Chinese-American Alliance declares immediate war on the rebels and conscripts everyone they can get their hands on…including Dru.
Cast adrift, forced to become a soldier, trapped in a nightmare of vacuum and loneliness, Dru's training will help her survive, but only Sarah will be able to bring her home.
My Review:
This was a really fantastic Dystopia book! I enjoyed the world, and the characters tat inhabited it, they were just so great to read about! And this book had diversity, because of hte relationship between Dru and Sarah! So that was really great!
Dru's never set foot on earth. And when the space elevator is destroyed, her life is changed forever, because she's conscripted to be a solider. Which really sucks, when all she really wants is to meet Sarah in person.
Reading this book, I really kinda hated the CAA, they shouldn't have ever had the power to conscript people into a war that was about this. I was on the side of the Loonies-they were right, they just went the absolutely wrong way about it!
I loved reading the ending! That Dru gets what she wants, and gets to meet Sarah, which had been what had gotten her through the whole experience/ordeal. That the good guys won, that was such a great ending!
I enjoyed this book a lot, it was really great and fun to read!
