When Carlos Fuentes returns to America after living in Mexico for a year, he doesn't want any part of the life his older brother, Alex, has laid out for him at a high school in Colorado. Carlos likes living his life on the edge and wants to carve his own path—just like Alex did. Then he meets Kiara Westford. She doesn't talk much and is completely intimidated by Carlos' wild ways. As they get to know one another, Carlos assumes Kiara thinks she's too good for him, and refuses to admit that she might be getting to him. But he soon realizes that being himself is exactly what Kiara needs right now.
My Review:
This was a really great book to read! I enjoyed reading about Carlos and Kiara, they were really fun characters, though he was a bit angry at first, what with the forced year in Mexico he'd just been through, and his mistaken thoughts about her.
They made for a really cute couple! And while they do have a journey over this book, it's not something that they couldn't do when they had each other, and that was really sweet, even when they tried pushing away from the other!
The same threat from the last book rears it's ugly head in this book too. Which is making me think, it's probably going to come back yet again for Luis's story. Which sucks for all of them, but it's helps them get to their happy ending, right?
I loved how Carlos didn't want to put this family in harms way, and does the idiot's way of going alone. Of course, he isn't alone, and it was really great to have that ending with them, and the good, happy stuff!
Really great book, and great sequel, now for Luis's book!
