I'd love a cup of coffee. I wish she knew how pretty she was. I wish I could drop this kid in the dryer sometimes. I just want her to be happy. I hope she didn't find out what Ben said about her. I wish I knew how many calories were in a bite of muffin…
Joy is used to hearing Whispers. She's used to walking down the street and instantly knowing people's deepest, darkest desires. She uses this talent for good, to make people happy and give them what they want. But for her older sister, Jessica, the family gift is a curse, and she uses it to make people's lives—especially Joy's—miserable. Still, when Joy Hears a frightening whisper from Jessica's own mind, she knows she has to save her sister, even if it means deserting her friends, stealing a car and running away with a boy she barely knows—a boy who may have a dark secret of his own.
My Review:
Oh, this was a really great, extra special book! I know the likelihood of there being a sequel, even though it says that it's a series, is unlikely, though I want it, because I enjoyed this book, and this world, so much!
This world of whispers, it makes you think of privacy, and what thoughts that you'd want to share with people, and what ones you wouldn't. And Joy gets them all the time, and there's really no choice. So she makes the best of it. While her sister does the opposite.
I really enjoyed her with Jamie, he accepted what she was doing pretty easily, which I think would be pretty rare! And they had a good vibe together, one that I really enjoyed reading about! And he helped her with Jessica!
I did feel bad for Jessica, she didn't like her life, and so she took it out on others. And she made some pretty bad choices. And then Joy helps her. With all of that, and all that Joy went through and grew in this book, I want a second book!
This really was a really great book, and I enjoyed it a ton!
