Donna Underwood is in deep trouble. An ancient alchemical order is holding her accountable for destroying the last precious drops of the elixar of life. Never mind the fact that Donna was acting to free her friend, Navin, from the dangerous clutches of the Wood Queen at the time. But what the alchemists have in store is nothing compared to the wrath of the fey. The Wood Queen has been tricked and Donna must pay. Get ready for all hell - quite literally - to break loose...
My Review:
Yeah, so after that ending of The Iron Witch, well, there's consequences. Both from those that are supposed to be on her side, and then the bad guy, or girl, in this case! Which was just so great to read about!
Donna was just really great in this book! She's facing a lot of hardship, but she's still going strong, still the spunky and rebellious girl that we got to know in The Iron Witch, so yeah, that was really great! But she's also grown since The Iron Witch, which is even better!
Between the alchemists being their secretive-y selves, and everything else, this book was darker then The Iron Witch, which is perfect, because it feels like Donna's on a downward spiral, things getting worse and worse, until they get better, which hopefully will happen during the end of the next and last book!
Like the title suggests, The Wood Queen that Donna faced in The Iron Witch, is still the biggest threat in this book. Oh, up until her actions release an even bigger bad. So yeah, Donna's going to have more on her plate in the next book! That was a really great ending!
I enjoyed this book (though that same unknown thing still bugged me) it was a really great and entertaining book!
