Week 1 Review: Inside

From Goodreads:
Virgil Skinner served fourteen years for a murder he didn't commit. He's finally been exonerated, but he can't escape the gang he joined in order to survive. They'll do anything to keep him from telling what he knows. And if they can't get to Virgil they'll go after his sister and her kids.

The California Department of Corrections needs someone to infiltrate another gang, one that's taking control of the state's most notorious supermax. Virgil agrees to do it under an alias—in exchange for his sister's protection.
Chief Deputy Warden Peyton Adams is opposed to having Virgil in her prison. How will she protect him if things go bad? Besides, she's far too attracted to him; she might even be falling in love with him. That makes her all the more desperate to keep him safe—and it gives him someone else to lose.

My Review:
Oh, such a great book! And the setting of a prison, that's not something that you see every day! And these were real people, some that I hated very much, and some that were just great, like Peyton, who tells someone who is kinda her (work) superior, that she slept with Virgil, which was something of a a fumble.

I really enjoyed Peyton and Virgil's relationship, because he's an guy who went to prison when he was 18-for a crime that he didn't commit. But while in prison, to protect himself, he joined a gang, and in self-defence, killed 2 people.

Peyton, she's seen some of the wrongs that the system has, because her dad went to prison for embezzlement, money that he used to pay for his wife, Peyton's mom's cancer treatments, and just before he was to be released, he was killed. So yeah, an interesting couple, one that was really enjoyable to read about!
I really enjoyed the ending, with Petyon being confronted by some of the gang that Virgil and joined and  then left, and how Pretty Boy, Rex, just comes in and that was just a tiny bit hilarious! I did feel sorry for the one guy, from the prison that Virgil was moved to, and who was kind to Virgil, and how the gang threatened him, so glad that he survived!

I really enjoyed this book (and that mention of the group from the previous series!) and yeah, can't wait to read more!
