Week 36 Review: Avenged

From Goodreads:
Avenged is the conclusion to the Vanished duology, an absorbing, psychological suspense story about friendship, deception, jealousy, and love.

Everyone believes Beth's death was an accident, except for Kalah. The girl she loved was stolen from her, and now Kalah's broken heart wants revenge. In order to crack Brit's perfect alibi, Kalah pretends to be Brit's best friend—with the sole mission to destroy her.

Kalah knows that playing Brit's game is deadly. One wrong move could cost someone their life, including her own…but the more lies Kalah tells, the closer she is to the twisted truth.

My Review:
Loved reading this book! I wanted Kalah to take down Brit, so badly, and yeah, it wasn't easy, the path that Kalah was going on! It was slippery, in doing the right thing, and hard that Brit had been playing it longer! So it was great to read about her journey!

Kalah had different approaches to nailing Brit throughout this book. Like, investigating where Brit had been when it was Brit dead and Beth running away. And pretending to be Brit's friend, though that didn't last as long as it could've, but it did some damage!

This is the second book in the duology. And we got to know these characters in the first book, but sometimes, there's more than meets the eye, and some of them showed different sides. And some of them have been growing, changing because of these experiences! It was great!

It was a pretty difficult, but great ending! I really enjoyed how Kalah worked everything! It was a spur of the moment plan, and it could've gone worse than it did, but it was just that moment, yeah, that was a great ending!

I enjoyed this book so much, it was a really great sequel to Vanished!

Week 34 Review: Vanished

Gone Girl meets Pretty Little Liars in this fast-paced psychological thriller full of delicious twists and turns.

Friendship. Obsession. Deception. Love.

Kalah knows better than to fall for Beth Taylor . . . but that doesn't stop her from falling hard and falling fast, heart first into a sea of complications.

Then Beth vanishes. She skips town on her eighteenth birthday, leaving behind a flurry of rumors and a string of broken hearts. Not even Beth's best friend, Britney, knows where she went. Beth didn't even tell Kalah good-bye.

One of the rumors links Beth to Britney's boyfriend, and Kalah doesn't want to believe the betrayal. But Brit clearly believes it—and before Kalah can sort out the truth, Britney is dead.

When Beth finally reaches out to Kalah in the wake of Brit's suicide, Kalah wants to trust what Beth tells her. But she's swiftly realizing that nothing here is as it seems. Kalah's caught in the middle of a deadly psychological game, and only she can untangle the deceptions and lies to reveal the unthinkable truth.

My Review:
This book was really awesome! It was dark and emotional and just really great to read! I loved watching as Kalah discovers that there was more than meets the eye, and to use a saying from the book Beth loved, fell into the rabbit hole.

I enjoyed the dynamics of this trio's friendship. Beth and Britney were friends for a long time, and only recently was Kalah added to the group. And because of who these people are, things didn't always go swimmingly. And then it was all wreaked.

This was basically a two-part mystery. First, why did Beth leave, and then why Britney did what she did. Because those things were connected, and not in the way that people thought. It was great watching the investigation!

This is only the first book in this duology, so nothing is really solved. But things are set up for that to happen, which hopefully it does! If Britney isn't caught by the end of the next book, then it'll feel like everything was all for nothing, you know?

Really enjoyed this book, it was great, and I can't wait to read Avenged!
