May RAK Wrap Up

Book Soulmates
So May was my birthday month (go being an adult at 18!) and I got/am getting 2 RAK's! The first from Amanda @ The Vintage Bookworm, and if you've been to my blog before, well, there's a new background/an actual header, and buttons! So I got a blog design as a birthday RAK, and I love it! So thank you, Amanda! Check out her blog design blog @ Vintage Bookworm Designs!

I also am getting a RAK from Mary @ Sweeping Me, of a bolded book from my wish list, while it hasn't come in yet, I'm hoping that it'll be coming in sometime next week, hopefully Monday! I can't wait to see it, and then I can plan what I'm going to buy with birthday money. Yep.

So what's your RAK? Check out the other May RAK Wrap Up posts at Book Soulmates!

Week 36 Review: Matched

From Goodreads:
Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

My Review:
This was such an amazing book! I loved the thought that there could be a perfect, society, but not at the expense of freedom of choice. Or freedom at all. Look at the cover. She's in a perfect glass orb, and she's stuck in in. I really like the covers!

And I loved that she had to choose between a really close friend, an a kinda friend who shouldn't really be a choice at all. That wasn't the best of situations, and a hard one to be in, what with pressures from society, and her family, and both of them!

This was really good, and I really liked how she started to rebel, an the other ways that her family rebelled, too. Because I mean, it's such a bad society, and yeah, it like, has no good points, being told who to marry, people dying at a certain age.

This was an excellent book, and I can't wait to read Crossed!

Week 29 Review: Posion Study

From Goodreads:
About to be executed for murder, Yelena is offered an extraordinary reprieve. She'll eat the best meals, have rooms in the palace-- and risk assassination by anyone trying to kill the Commander of Ixia.

And so Yelena chooses to become a food taster. But the chief of security, leaving nothing to chance, deliberately feeds her Butterfly's Dust and only by appearing for her daily antidote will she delay an agonizing death from the poison. As Yelena tries to escape her new dilemma, disasters keep mounting. Rebels plot to seize Ixia and Yelena develops magical powers she can't control. Her life is threatened again and choices must be made. But this time the outcomes aren't so clear....

My Review:
Oh, I loved this book! It was just excellent! The pages flew, and I wanted to know what was going to happen to Yelena and Valek next! I loved them being together, and them each by themselves!

If you might've noticed, Posion Study was the RAK that I got (my first one, whoo! And thanks, Kellie!) So I got it around 3 pm yesterday. I was done by 8:30. And I had supper. And some things to do on my computer. And the doggies. And supper. So in all, about 3 hours of actual reading time. So I read it fast. I really liked this book!

I loved the posions, and I loved how the other characters learned of Yelena's secrets, like Ari learning from Yelena herself, but when she wasn't herself, persay. I'll leave it at that, so you will want ot read more, and then actually read the book since it was just great! It'll be going on my reread pile, I read it quickly, and I want to read it again!

All in all, this was an AWESOME book that you guys really, really, really need to read, and once you have, if you haven't already, own it!!!!!

My First R. A. K.!!!!!!

Book Soulmates
Today, when I went out to get the mail with the doggies being as silly as ever, and jiggered me (had their leashes all tangled, around me, and each other, it's a term that my family made up because we're like that :) )

When I got to the mailbox, I opened it, and guess what I found?

A package from the Book Depository!!!!! In it was the RAK that I'd known about-but not what book! When I opened it once I crossed the street (my yard is 3.9 acres big, and 3 sides have roads beside them, and the mailbox is on the second one on the other side) and guess what I found?

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder! WHOO! So thank you, Kellie of Bookish Adventures for sending me my first RAK!
