OK, so I got 46 posts in 7 days, and it was a pretty great week, I'm so glad for this 4 day long weekend, but I have a lot of catch up still left to do, I kept getting sidetracked yesterday! What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read Breach of Peace, A Danger to Herself and Others, and Windwitch

When an imperial family is found butchered, Officers of God are called to investigate. Evidence points to a rebel group trying to stab fear into the very heart of the empire. Inspector Khlid begins a harrowing hunt for those responsible, but when a larger conspiracy comes to light, she struggles to trust even the officers around her.
Girl, Interrupted meets We Were Liars in this gripping new novel from New York Times bestselling author Alyssa Sheinmel.

Four walls. One window. No way to escape.

Hannah knows there's been a mistake, She doesn't need to be institutionalized. What happened to her roommate at that summer program was an accident. As soon as the doctor and judge figure out that she isn't a danger to herself or others, she can go home to start her senior year. Those college applications aren't going to write themselves. Until then, she's determined to win over the staff and earn some privileges so she doesn't lose her mind to boredom.

Then Lucy arrives. Lucy has her own baggage, and she's the perfect project to keep Hannah's focus off all she is missing at home. But Lucy may be the one person who can get Hannah to confront the secrets she's avoiding-and the dangerous games that landed her in confinement in the first place.
Susan Dennard returns with a follow up to New York Times bestselling novel Truthwitch.

After an explosion destroys his ship, the world believes Prince Merik, Windwitch, is dead. Scarred yet alive, Merik is determined to prove his sister's treachery. Upon reaching the royal capital, crowded with refugees, he haunts the streets, fighting for the weak--which leads to whispers of a disfigured demigod, the Fury, who brings justice to the oppressed.

When the Bloodwitch Aeduan discovers a bounty on Iseult, he makes sure to be the first to find her--yet in a surprise twist, Iseult offers him a deal. She will return money stolen from him, if he locates Safi. Now they must work together to cross the Witchlands, while constantly wondering, who will betray whom first?

After a surprise attack and shipwreck, Safi and the Empress of Marstok barely escape with their lives. Alone in a land of pirates, every moment balances on a knife's edge--especially when the pirates' next move could unleash war upon the Witchlands.

Sometimes our enemies are also our only allies..

Week 13 Review: Amid the Crowd of Stars

+i
From Goodreads:
This innovative sci-fi novel explores the potential impact of alien infection on humankind as they traverse the stars and find themselves stranded on new and strange planets.

Amid the Crowd of Stars is a grand scale science fiction novel examining the ethical implications of interstellar travel, a topic rarely addressed in science fiction novels. What responsibilities do we have to isolate ourselves from the bacteria, viruses, and other life of another world, and to prevent any of that alien biome from being brought back to Earth?

What happens when a group of humans are stranded for centuries on another world with no choice but to expose themselves to that world? After such long exposure, are they still Homo sapiens or have they become another species entirely?

These questions are at the heart of this intriguing novel, explored through the complicated lives and the viewpoints of the people who have come to rescue the stranded colony, the members of that colony, and the sentient alien life that dwells on the planet. Difficult life and death choices will be made by all involved.

My Review:
This was such a great read! It was such a stellar sci fi book, about what it means to colonize a planet-and what happens when the security protocols aren't enough, and humanity gets mixed with this different planet's biome. Such a cool concept!

In this book, we had 2 main perspectives-one of Ichiko, who is a scientist from Earth, investigating this planet that was colonized by humans, but due to circumstances, left the people and the planet alone for centuries. And now they're back and seeing just how different the decedents are, after living on this planet for so long.

And the other perspective was Saoirse, who was one of those descendents, who lives on a island with her group, away from the others. And I really enjoyed learning about the secrets that she was keeping, and what they added to the story! Though sometimes I didn't like the way that Saorise went about things.

The science in this book was just so interesting, and with the alien intelligence, I just loved where this story went! There were consequences of their actions, and it all came together really well! That ending was pretty amazing!

Really enjoyed reading this book, and I'll be interested in reading hat Stephen Leigh writes next!
