Week 39 Review: Feral Youth

From Goodreads:
At Zeppelin Bend, an outdoor education program designed to teach troubled youth the value of hard work, cooperation, and compassion, ten teens are left alone in the wild. The teens are a diverse group who come from all walks of life, and they were all sent to Zeppelin Bend as a last chance to get them to turn their lives around. They've just spent nearly two weeks learning to survive in the wilderness, and now their instructors have dropped them off eighteen miles from camp with no food, no water, and only their packs, and they'll have to struggle to overcome their vast differences if they hope to survive.

Inspired by The Canterbury Tales, Feral Youth features characters, each complex and damaged in their own ways, who are enticed to tell a story (or two) with the promise of a cash prize. The stories range from noir-inspired revenge tales to mythological stories of fierce heroines and angry gods. And while few of the stories are claimed to be based in truth, they ultimately reveal more about the teller than the truth ever could.

OK, so I got 33 posts in 7 days, and it was a pretty good week, I read some great books, so I'm happy with that. But my tablet fell from my locker, and even though it has a screen protector and a case, the screen broke again, so I'm sending it in to be repaired, which is annoying, since it happened 2 years ago, too. What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read whatever I want from my TBR's!

Week 27 Review: Blood & Fury

Week 16 Review: Chaos & Flame

Week 12 Review: The Black Girl Survives In This One

My Review:
This was such a great collection of stories! I've only read from a couple of these authors before, mainly Justina Ireland, but I had a fantastic time reading these stories-the theme of the black girls surviving in these horror stories was so great!

I don't read a lot of horror, or watch much, but the first few stories endings weren't my favourite. Like, the title is correct, they survived to the end of the story, but after the story ends? Are they going to survive much longer after that? They might not, and that kind of ending isn't my favourite, but right until the end they were fantastic! 

I loved the variety of horrors there were, from the The Scottish Play, to zombies to demon deals. They were all so creepy and at times terrifying, and I was rooting for these characters even if I knew that they were going to survive, they deserved it!

I think my favourites were Black Pride by Justina Ireland, and Foxhunt by Charlotte Nicole Davis. In the former, the whole story, and what it turned out to be was so awesome to read. And the latter, yeah, it was just so satisfying, and I was cheering Flex on, I couldn't get enough! It was a great end to the anthology, I keep thinking about it! 

This was a really fantastic anthology and I had a great time reading it!
