The Story: I got The Leaving Season from Edelweiss, it sounded fantastic, and I really enjoyed it, and I really enjoyed her 2nd book, too, and I'd love to read more by Cat Jordan!

So this week I want to read Blood Will Out, Breaking Point, Monsterland, and A Perfect Obsession.

Week 49 Review: Eight Days on Planet Earth
A heart-wrenching romance full of twists that are sure to bring tears to readers' eyes, from Cat Jordan, author of The Leaving Season.
How long does it take to travel twenty light years to Earth?
How long does it take to fall in love?
To the universe, eight days is a mere blip, but to Matty Jones, it may be just enough time to change his life.
On the hot summer day Matty's dad leaves for good, a strange girl suddenly appears in the empty field next to the Jones farm—the very field in rural Pennsylvania where a spaceship supposedly landed fifty years ago. She is uniquely beautiful, sweet, and smart, and she tells Matty she's waiting for her spaceship to pick her up and return her to her home planet. Of course she is.
Matty has heard a million impossible UFO stories for each of his seventeen years: the conspiracy theories, the wild rumors, the crazy belief in life beyond the stars. When he was a kid, he and his dad searched the skies and studied the constellations. But all of that is behind him. Dad's gone—but now there's Priya. She must be crazy…right?
As Matty unravels the mystery of the girl in the field, he realizes there is far more to her than he first imagined. And if he can learn to believe in what he can't see: the universe, aliens…love…then maybe the impossible is possible, after all.
My Review:
This book was really interesting to read! Like, it opens up the possibility of aliens on this planet, or that Priya is crazy. And Matt kinda vacillates between believing her or not. Well, like wanting to believe her or not. So yeah, that was really interesting!
For me, this book was pretty short. Like, in my Nook, it was 200-ish pages. So yeah, that's a pretty fast read. And given that not all of the chapters were even a full page, while others were pages, made for an interesting reading rhythm.
Matt is the kind of person who plays it safe-asks out his best friend's sister, which should've been an easy yes, but wasn't. He was into science and space, but his dad took it into conspiracy territory. And then Priya shows up and pulls him out of his comfort zone, which is good for personality growing!
The ending was bittersweet. The almost magical possibilities throughout this book, and then we find out the truth. There's still that hope, and a rediscovered wonder of the Universe. Plus, that video she recorded on the first day. Yeah, bittersweet is a perfect word to describe this ending!
I enjoyed this book a lot, it was a really amazing book!

Week 10 Review: The Leaving Season
Middie Daniels calls it the Leaving Season: the time of year when everyone graduates high school, packs up their brand-new suitcases, and leaves home for the first time.
This year Middie's boyfriend Nate is the one leaving. Nate, who's so perfect that she can barely believe it. Nate, who makes her better than she is on her own. Nate, who's promised to come back once he's finished his gap year volunteering in Central America. And when he does, it'll be time for Middie to leave, too. With him.
But when a tragedy strikes, Middie's whole world is set spinning. No one seems to understand just how lost she is… except for Nate's slacker best friend Lee. Middie and Lee have never gotten along. But with the ground ripped out from under her, Middie is finding that up is down—and that Lee Ryan might be just what she needs to find her footing once more.
Cat Jordan's heartbreaking story proves that no matter the season, no matter the obstacles, love can help you find yourself in the most unexpected of places.
My Review:
I really enjoyed this book! It was a bit sad, being what it's about, but it was also pretty exciting, too, because it was moving past the sadness and finding a new normal, and I think that Meredith as she wants to be know as, did a pretty good job!
I enjoyed Meredith and Lee, they were the only ones not family that were closest to Nate, they knew what they other was going through. They had their ups and downs, but they created a pretty great relationship, bonding over the things that Nate passed on doing.
The twist about Nate, after all the grief everyone had gone though thinking that he was dead, yeah, that was a big game changer, and really great to read! It brought up a big bundle of conflict that was not the easiest to deal with!
Honestly, I can see why she made that choice in the end. She had changed from Nate's disappearance, and while he'd been through an ordeal, he hadn't changed. And they didn't fit together anymore. Still a bit of hurt there!
Really fantastic book with a fitting end, and I enjoyed it a lot!
