Week 31 Review: The Defiant

My Review:
I loved reading this book! I love her writing, and I loved the first book, and I was excited to see where the series was going to go. The story this book tells was epic to read, and I can't wait to continue on and see where it goes from here!
Fallon was such a great character to read about! She had been made into a gladiatrix, that was just awful. She had the chance to get out, but she didn't take it. That she had the people's love, well, I had to know what was going to done to her, as she was warned, and so were we.
I was expecting this book to raise my emotions, the first book did to a great extent, and it didn't disappoint. I wanted Fallon and her sisters to get out of this situation, and as things got more and more complicated with a rebellion plot, yeah, I had to keep reading!
Watching as those that Fallon humiliated came back to get her back, I had to know how they were going to react to that, and deal with this rival school that wants to take them down. I was rooting for Fallon and her sisters, and I couldn't get enough!
Loved reading this book, and I need to read book 3!

Week 20 Review: The Valiant
The youngest daughter of a proud Celtic king, Fallon has always lived in the shadow of her older sister Sorcha's legendary reputation as a warrior. But when Fallon was a young child, the armies of Julius Caesar invaded the island of Britain and her beloved older sister was killed in battle.
On the eve of her seventeenth birthday, Fallon is excited to follow in her sister's footsteps and earn her rightful place in her father's royal war band. But she never gets the chance. Instead, Fallon is captured by a band of ruthless brigands who sell her to an exclusive training school for female gladiators—and its most influential patron is none other than Julius Caesar himself. In a cruel twist of fate, Fallon's worst enemy, the man who destroyed her family, might be her only hope of survival.
Now, Fallon must overcome vicious rivalries, chilling threats and the dangerous attention of Caesar himself to survive the deadly fights that take place both in and out of the arena—and claim her place in history among the Valiant.
My Review:
Oh man, this was a really amazing read! I did start reading this book earlier, but the idea of a someone getting kidnapped and sold as gladiator-so basically a slave that fights for entertainment-yeah, it came really close to pushing my buttons. But trying it again, I got into it, and I couldn't put it down!
Reading Fallon's story was really great! She was strong and she was smart, and she was fierce and loyal! She's taken from her home to be a gladiator for the guy who killed her sister. Not a great situation. She's a fighter, and I loved watching her deal with everything!

My Review:
It was really fantastic to be able to read the rest of this series so soon after the first book, and the Wondrous Strange series! Details were sharp in my mind, and yeah, I really am glad that things worked out this way! So awesome!
Descendant picks up pretty quickly for these guys, Mason in Hel, and Fennrys and Rafe getting off the bridge and stuff! And the pace is pretty quick for the rest of the series, I think only a couple of days really pass in Descendant, and Transcendent takes place in I think maybe two days. Yeah. That was great!
We learned so many things in this book. Like that it's the gods that we usually think of the good guys, like Odin (or at least his power in Mason's dad) are the ones that want the apocalypse. Which was a neat twist! Or how Mason died, because oh, that hurt!
Loved how everything worked out, they defeated the schemes of the bad guys with cunning and skill. Loved just how they came close to losing, but came back stronger, and won! Such a great ending! I just kinda wish that Kelley and Sonny could've made a brief appearance, that would've just topped this series up to the top!
Loved reading these books, and I can't wait to read more by Lesley Livingston!

Week 33 Review: Starling

My first review of Starling
My Review:
Reading this book again-after reading the first trilogy not long ago-was just fantastic! I loved connecting the dots, of these series coming together, linked by more than Fennrys. But I'm hoping that there'll be more connections in the next two books!
Mason was just awesome! She was a part of this ultra family, and had the best of everything, and she wasn't awful about it. And while she did have her flaws, and her phobias, well, she had a reason for them, and I really enjoyed reading about her!
Knowing what Fennrys did, and why, made reading this book just the bit more deeper. We didn't really get to know him before, and in this book, he started to learn about himself, us along with him. It was just so great to read!
That ending was just as evil as it was last time, but this time, it was soothed by the fact that I'm going to be reading the next two books in this trilogy, and I won't have to deal with leaving these characters on the cliff! Yeah!
This book was so great, and I can't wait to read the rest of this series!

Yeah, it was so awesome to read these books! It's been about 5 years since I last read them, and it was about time, now that the spin off series has been completed! Which I'm going to be reading next, yeah, which will be great, what with Fennrys Wolf in both series!
I loved diving into this world again, and being with these characters! They have a lot of adventures, with some pretty high stakes, and yeah, it was just so great to go along with them again! Some things I remembered, or partially, like Kelley's parentage, and others, I didn't, like Sonny's abilities. So lots of fun rereading these books!
It's like a roller coaster, the emotions that they got through! They love each other, but outside forces are tearing them apart, and all these things to deal with, and with Fae politics and deals and ways around lying!
Knowing that Fennrys Wolf makes a huge sacrifice in the end. And it was great to see him knowing who he is in this series, when he doesn't in the first book. I think he remembers in the end, but it's been so long, thus, reread! But yeah, so great to have that in this series!
