The Story: Level 2 had a lot of hype, and it looked really great, so yeah, I checked it out, and I really enjoyed it a lot! And I've really enjoyed the series! I can't wait to read more books by Lenore Appelhans!

Week 23 Reviews: The Best Things in Death, Chasing Before
Neil -- A week before his car crash with Felicia, Neil spends a perfect day at the swimming hole. He and Felicia have never been happier. But can he work up the courage to tell her that he loves her?

My Review:
Oh, my, these were just 2 great wonderful stories! I really, absolutely, positively loved them, they were so freaking good, and actions had consequences, like the real world, and yeah, just built on the awesome sauce that was Level 2!
I enjoyed meeting new characters in Death, and then their roles in Chasing Before, that was just fun! And yeah, new characters, just so excited, because new equals questions and different plot lines, and just all sorts of things to shake things up, as it so happened, and yeah, so good!
I really enjoyed their romance develop, because we saw her memories of how it was when they were alive, and now that they're dead, and things are different, and they had to adjust to that, and to these new them's, and new us's. That was just great!
I loved what we learned about Felicia, because there were some hidden mysteries that we didn't know about, that we learned, and while we might not have learned everything, well, what we learned was just so freaking fantastic!
I really enjoyed these books, they were incredible, and I can't wait to see what Lenore Appelhans writes next, because this book does feel like the end of the series, but I could be wrong!

Week 1 Review: Level 2
In this gripping exploration of a futuristic afterlife, a teen discovers that death is just the beginning.
Since her untimely death the day before her eighteenth birthday, Felicia Ward has been trapped in Level 2, a stark white afterlife located between our world and the next. Along with her fellow drones, Felicia passes the endless hours reliving memories of her time on Earth and mourning what she's lost-family, friends, and Neil, the boy she loved.
Then a girl in a neighboring chamber is found dead, and nobody but Felicia recalls that she existed in the first place. When Julian-a dangerously charming guy Felicia knew in life-comes to offer Felicia a way out, Felicia learns the truth: If she joins the rebellion to overthrow the Morati, the angel guardians of Level 2, she can be with Neil again.
Suspended between Heaven and Earth, Felicia finds herself at the center of an age-old struggle between good and evil. As memories from her life come back to haunt her, and as the Morati hunt her down, Felicia will discover it's not just her own redemption at stake… but the salvation of all mankind
My Review:
This was a bit of a creepy book. I mean, it takes place in the second stage of life, the one after death. So there's that. And then there's the fact that they get to buy and sell memories to look at (you don't lose them, but other people can view them if you want them to and they can afford it because they let other people view their memories)
And then her friend is gone, no one remembers, and she's thrown into this weird world where everybody is kept all drugged up with no real memories of the place that they're at, but of their life on earth, and other peoples.
I really enjoyed Felicia's memories, as they chronicle her falling in love with Ethan, how she knew Julian in life, and all sorts of other things, just telling the story of her life before she died. And there some good memories, and bad memories, like what happened to her friend, why she got sent to the US.
Because viewing the memories is a drug, and Felicity has to be weaned off of it, that's why we got so many memories. And with the group that she's with, I didn't enjoy most of them, but yeah, things happen-and then she finds Neal. And things happen. And they beat the bad guys. And then her and Neil decide to move onto Level 3.
Yeah, all in all, a really great book, and a really great start to a series!
