OK, so I got 30 posts in 7 days, and the reading was good, the personal life, not so much. Jax, who is 11 years old, has had one thing or another for the past month. It started with a problem with his anal glands, and he was taken to the vet and got care. A few days after the antibiotics were finished, he started pooping blood, which had me scared because it reminded me of Dobby, and the infection in his bladder that caused him to pee blood, and is why he was put down, since he wasn't getting better, and it had been months and he was suffering, but it still hurt. It took a bit, including 2 vet visits because it didn't clear right away. He was getting better, he had more energy. But he's been coughing, and he's fainted twice now, which is scary. The vet has been monitoring him for a heart murmur, which the internet is saying could cause his symptomes. So he's going to the vet for the 4th time in a month's period, to see what treatment he can have. So I've been worrying over him and trying to spend as much time as possible with him. I'm really hoping that the vet can help him, and that it's all the stress of all that he's been going through, and he'll get better, but I don't know yet. But if we lose him now, it's been less than a year since we lost Dobby, which I'm still dealing with. So that's been my week. What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read Winter Lost!

Mercy Thompson, car mechanic and shapeshifter, must stop a disaster of world-shattering proportions in this exhilarating entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.

In the supernatural realms, there are creatures who belong to winter. I am not one of them. But like the coyote I can become at will, I am adaptable.

My name is Mercy Thompson Hauptman, and my mate, Adam, is the werewolf who leads the Columbia Basin Pack, the pack charged with keeping the people who live and work in the Tri-Cities of Washington State safe. It's a hard job, and it doesn't leave much room for side quests. Which is why when I needed to travel to Montana to help my brother, I intended to go by myself.

But I'm not alone anymore.

Together, Adam and I find ourselves trapped with strangers in a lodge in the heart of the wilderness, in the teeth of a storm of legendary power, only to discover my brother's issues are a tiny part of a problem much bigger than we could have imagined. Arcane and ancient magics are at work that could, unless we are very careful, bring about the end of the world. . . .

Week 24 Reviews: Down to the Liar, Burden of Proof, Trust Me, I'm Trouble

From Goodreads:
Julep Dupree is a lot of things--fixer, grifter, master of disguise. But one thing she isn't is okay. Dealing with the emotional aftermath of the death of someone close to  her is proving difficult, especially for someone who isn't supposed to care.

Then a friend of a friend hires Julep's team to stop a cadre of cyber bullies, forcing Julep to run an impossible con. Nothing Julep has been through could possibly have prepared her for the truth behind the bullying, or for the demons she'll have to face to save her friends.

Down to the Liar also features a teaser to Trust Me, I'm Trouble!

Grifters can't have all the fun...
Sam Seward is a hacker, not a con artist. And after the events that landed him in a military school, he's more than happy to leave the grifting to the expert he left back in Chicago. But when a classmate begs him to help her retrieve something one of the school teachers stole from her, Sam's staunch belief in justice won't let him turn her down. He forms a new crew and plots a heist of his own, but he's not Julep, and something about this case just smells wrong.

Will he be able to pull off a con that even Julep would never attempt? Find out in this companion novella to Down to the Liar.

Staying out of trouble isn't possible for Julep Dupree. She has managed not to get kicked out of her private school, even though everyone knows she's responsible for taking down a human-trafficking mob boss—and getting St. Agatha's golden-boy Tyler killed in the process. Running cons holds her guilty conscience at bay, but unfortunately, someone wants Julep to pay for her mistakes…with her life.

Against her better judgment, Julep takes a shady case that requires her to infiltrate a secretive organization, one that may be connected to her long-gone mother and the enigmatic figure called the blue fairy. Her best friend, Sam, isn't around to stop her, and Dani, her one true confidante, happens to be a nineteen-year-old mob enforcer whose moral compass is as questionable as Julep's. But there's not much time to worry about right and wrong—or to save your falling heart—when there's a contract on your head.

Murders, heists, secrets and lies, hit men and hidden identities…If Julep doesn't watch her back, it's her funeral. No lie.

OK, so I got 35 posts in 7 days, it was a decent reading week, but it wasn't the best, we had a death in the family, and the funeral was yesterday. What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read Everything, Everything, The Power of Hades.
The Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller

If you love Eleanor and Park, Hazel and Augustus, and Mia and Adam, you’ll love the story of Maddy, a girl who’s literally allergic to the outside world, and Olly, the boy who moves in next door . . . and becomes the greatest risk she’s ever taken. This innovative and heartfelt debut novel unfolds via vignettes, diary entries, illustrations, and more.

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He's tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.
I've been kidnapped by Zeus. Plucked from the streets of Manhattan and frightened half to death by a freaking Olympian god.

And now I'm trapped in the Underworld, being forced to compete in a series of deadly trials for the position of Queen of the Underworld. Which would mean marrying Hades, the utterly terrifying Lord of the Dead. Who the hell wants a husband at all, let alone one made of smoke and riddled with death?

I have to get back home, to New York and my brother. But I can't leave without completing the trials and they've been designed for a godly Queen, not Persephone - barista and botanical garden enthusiast.
I'm surrounded by lethal, all-powerful maniacs. Sexy-as-hell maniacs, sure, but as dangerous as they come. And I'm going to have to prove to all of them that there's a goddess of hell inside me. It's the only way I'll survive the Hades Trials. But then what? And why, why, why am I so desperate to see under Hades smoky exterior and find out what he's hiding from me?

If I win the trials, I have to marry the devil himself. But losing might mean losing my life.

Week 3 Review: Trust Me, I'm Lying

From Goodreads:
Julep Dupree tells lies. A lot of them. She's a con artist, a master of disguise, and a sophomore at Chicago's swanky St. Agatha High, where her father, an old-school grifter with a weakness for the ponies, sends her to so she can learn to mingle with the upper crust. For extra spending money Julep doesn't rely on her dad—she runs petty scams for her classmates while dodging the dean of students and maintaining an A+ (okay, A-) average.

But when she comes home one day to a ransacked apartment and her father gone, Julep's carefully laid plans for an expenses-paid golden ticket to Yale start to unravel. Even with help from St. Agatha's resident Prince Charming, Tyler Richland, and her loyal hacker sidekick, Sam, Julep struggles to trace her dad's trail of clues through a maze of creepy stalkers, hit attempts, family secrets, and worse, the threat of foster care. With everything she has at stake, Julep's in way over her head . . . but that's not going to stop her from using every trick in the book to find her dad before his mark finds her. Because that would be criminal.

Fans of Ally Carter, especially her Heist Society readers, will love this teen mystery/thriller with sarcastic wit, a hint of romance, and Ocean's Eleven–inspired action.

My Review:
This was such a great read! I loved watching Julep's investigation! I had a great time going on this adventure, getting to know these characters, and I'm really excited that it's a series, so we can spend more time together!

Julep is a con artist, who wants to get out. I loved learning how her mind worked, with the cons that she pulled, with the team that she built up over the course of this book. Getting to know these characters, with some pretty important secrets, yeah, they were so great to read about

The main plot of this book is looking for her dead, who got wrapped up in some pretty bad news, and Julep has to follow the clues that he left. There was a bit of romance going on, as well as drama at school, because of course just one thing going on isn't enough!

And that ending, that was totally unexpected! And there were plenty of twists, and yeah, some hard, painful moments as well. Plus a new mystery that it looks like will be the main focus of the 2nd book, which I'm really excited about!

This was a really great read, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

21 Books to Read in 2021 Update 1

So I read my first book for the 21 Books to Read in 2021 Challenge! Glad that I got at least one read this month, since on average, I need to read about 5 1/4 books each month. So hopefully I'll read more of these books this month!

So I read Trust Me, I'm Lying, from the Physical list!

Yep. Happy reading!

Here's the link to this year's post with my journey.

But to recap, I wanted to do a version of These Books Will Self Destruct in 12 months without the self destruct. I wanted to read books that I've had for a while, that I really needed to get read, but maybe I forgot about them or that I had them. So I made 3 lists, one for each way I have them, as physical books, as an NetGalley ARC, and as an Edelweiss ARC.

Will the Time Come #325, August 24th

Every Thursday I am going to list a book which I really want to read/keep meaning to get to. These are mostly books which have been on my shelf for awhile now but don't have to be, maybe you got it two weeks ago and really want to read it! Thanks to Jodie from Books for Company for this meme!

Staying out of trouble isn’t possible for Julep Dupree. She has managed not to get kicked out of her private school, even though everyone knows she’s responsible for taking down a human-trafficking mob boss—and getting St. Agatha’s golden-boy Tyler killed in the process.

Her best friend, Sam, isn’t around to stop her, and Dani, her one true confidante, happens to be a nineteen-year-old mob enforcer whose moral compass is as questionable as Julep’s. But there’s not much time to worry about right and wrong—or to save your falling heart—when there’s a contract on your head.

Murders, heists, secrets and lies, hit men and hidden identities…If Julep doesn’t watch her back, it’s her funeral. No lie.

Why the time hasn't come yet...
I haven't read the first book quite yet. Hopefully I will soon! What about you guys? Happy reading!

Random Reads #132, June 5th

Random Reads is a monthly meme (that I'm going to do weekly) hosted by I'm Loving Books to read some books that have been on our TBR piles for a long time. Using Random.org, I got 4008 which turned out to be Trust Me, I'm Lying by Mary Elizabeth Summer! It's been on my TBR pile since July 24th 2013, and I added it because it sounded absolutely amazing! Happy reading!
