Its been a hell of a day for Abby Barlow. In just a few hours, shes survived an explosion, watched her employer die, had a startling dream, and now she finds herself in a seedy Chicago hotel with the sexy, unearthly Dante, a man she both desires and fears. Week 53 Review: Blood Lust

From Goodreads:
Blessed and cursed by their hidden abilities, the Sentinels have no choice but to live, and love, on the edge of humanity…

The Sentinel assassin, Bas, is facing the greatest challenge of his outcast existence. His young daughter, Molly, has been kidnapped. But her disappearance has brought the return of her mother, Myst, whom Bas has never forgotten--or forgiven.

Haunted by a vision that she's destined to create a weapon that will destroy thousands, Myst was never impulsive--until she met the irresistibly handsome Bas. But with the Brotherhood, the enemy of the high-bloods hunting for her, Myst had to stay on the run, to keep her child, and the world, safe. Now, with the most important thing in both their lives at stake, she and Bas must embark on a treacherous journey to save Molly, to confront the truth of Myst's fate--and to face their fierce desire for one another.

My Review:
Yeah, this book was so fantastic! I really hope that we get a 4th book, and more, because I really enjoy this world, it's really fantastic to read about! Also, having Myst and Bas as leads was really intriguing to read about!

We knew the whole time why Myst did what she did. But Bas didn't, and he understandably, didn't want Myst around their daughter. But as the truth came out, he came around to her side! It went quicker than I thought it would, but it was so great to read!

After Blood Assassin, it was great to be in the mind of Bas, and get his story, and Myst, who we did meet in Born in Blood! They were so fantastic together, a lot of sparks were flying, and of course, they did have Molly so that added so much more, because she was so loveable!

I kinda figured out what was going to happen, after all, Myst gaining the ability to communicate via mind with Molly after giving birth, combined with the discovery that Molly ignited dormant abilities in people, made me think that she was the weapon that Myst would create. So yeah, glad how that all worked out!

This was a really wonderful book, and I hope we get more in this series, 3 books and 2 short stories just simply isn't enough time in this world!

OK, so I got 21 posts in 7 days, What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read Gardenia, Her Fierce Warrior, Her Rogue Alpha, Her True Match, Lost Girls, Our Own Private Universe, Pretty Fierce, and The Turn.

Seventeen-year-old Ivy Erickson has one month, twenty-seven days, four hours, fifty-nine minutes, and two seconds to live.

Ever since she was a child, Ivy has been able to see countdown clocks over everyone's heads indicating how long before they will die. She can't do anything about anyone else’s, nor can she do anything about her own, which will hit the zero hour before she even graduates high school.

A life cut short is tragic, but Ivy does her best to make the most of it. She struggles emotionally with her deep love for on-again, off-again boyfriend Myers Patripski. She struggles financially, working outside of school to help her mom and her sister. And she struggles to cope with the murder of her best friend, another life she couldn't save. Vanessa Donovan was killed in the woods, and everyone in town believes Ivy had something to do with it.

Then more girls start disappearing. Ivy tries to put her own life in order as she pieces together the truth of who ended Vanessa's. To save lives and for her own sanity.

The clock is always ticking. And Ivy's only hope is to expose the truth before it runs out completely.
Minka isn't sure she should trust the sexy Special Forces soldier who found her. Subjected to horrors, on the run from scientists set on locking her in a cage, Minka is terrified of the monster she's becoming...and somehow, Angelo is the only one who can calm the beast inside her and make her feel safe.

But can she trust the way he makes her feel when she's not even sure she can trust herself?
HE'LL DO ANYTHING FOR HER
Former Special Forces Lieutenant Jayson Harmon can't believe that his war scars don't matter to beautiful feline shifter Layla Halliwell. Why would she saddle herself with a broken man?

But Layla knows that Jayson is a hero to the core, and that only she can heal his wounded soul. So when Jayson is deployed on another deadly mission, no way is Layla staying behind...
After a long game of cat-and-mouse

Feline shifter Dreya Clark picks the wrong penthouse to rob and ends up arrested by sexy detective Braden Hayes. But Braden isn’t the only one who’s been watching the cat burglar. Agents from the Department of Covert Operations swoop in to offer her a deal. If she wants to stay out of jail, she’ll have to work with them—and pair up with the hot cop. Great.

Danger throws this unlikely pair together

Braden isn’t thrilled about the DCO meddling in his investigation. He’s been chasing Dreya for years. Thrown together on a dangerous covert mission, fur flies and temperatures flare. But when danger closes in on them, their game of cat and mouse turns deadly-serious, and they’ll have to rely on each other to make it out alive.
Yesterday, Rachel went to sleep listening to Taylor Swift, curled up in her grammy’s quilt, worrying about geometry. Today, she woke up in a ditch, bloodied, bruised, and missing a year of her life.

She doesn’t recognize the person she’s become: she’s popular. She wears nothing but black.

Black to cover the blood.

And she can fight.

Tell no one.

She’s not the only girl to go missing within the last year…but she’s the only girl to come back. She
desperately wants to unravel what happened to her, to try and recover the rest of the Lost Girls.

But the more she discovers, the more her memories return. And as much as her new life scares her, it
calls to her. Seductively. The good girl gone bad, sex, drugs, and raves, and something darker…something she still craves—the rush of the fight, the thrill of the win—something she can’t resist, that might still get her killed…

The only rule is: There are no rules.
Fifteen-year-old Aki Hunter knows she’s bisexual, but up until now she's only dated guys—and her best friend, Lori, is the only person she’s out to. When she and Lori set off on a four-week youth-group mission trip in a small Mexican town, it never crosses Aki's mind that there might be anyone in the group she’d be interested in dating. But that all goes out the window when Aki meets Christa.
Kaia has been on the run her whole life. The daughter of professional assassins, she knows true danger—and she’ll do anything to survive. After her parents vanished during a job gone bad, Kaia’s spent the last year in hiding, trying to blend in as an ordinary teenager, and there’s no one who makes her feel more normal or more special than her boyfriend, Oliver.

But when she’s jumped by a hit man, and Oliver catches her fighting back, Kaia’s secret is exposed. In a split-second decision, she flees the small town, taking Oliver with her. With professional killers stalking their every move, can Oliver and Kaia protect each other long enough to uncover the mysteries of her past?
#1 New York Times bestselling author Kim Harrison returns to her beloved Hollows series with The Turn, the official prequel to the series that will introduce fans and readers to a whole new side of Rachel Morgan's world as they've never seen it before!

Can science save us when all else fails?

Trisk and her hated rival, Kalamack, have the same goal: save their species from extinction.

Death comes in the guise of hope when a genetically modified tomato created to feed the world combines with the government's new tactical virus, giving it an unexpected host and a mode of transport. Plague takes the world, giving the paranormal species an uncomfortable choice to stay hidden and allow humanity to die, or to show themselves in a bid to save them.

Under accusations of scientific misconduct, Trisk and Kal flee across a plague torn United States to convince leaders of the major paranormal species to save their supposedly weaker kin, but not everyone thinks humanity should be saved.

Kal surreptitiously works against her as Trisk fights the prejudices of two societies to prove that not only does humanity have something to offer, but that long-accepted beliefs against women, dark magic, and humanity itself can turn to understanding; that when people are at their worst that the best show their true strength, and that love can hold the world together as a new balance is found.

Week 52 Review: On the Hunt

From Goodreads:
Four of today's most intriguing paranormal authors entice readers deep into the shadows, where vampires, immortals, and other supernatural creatures heat up the night...

On The Hunt by Alexandra Ivy
Mika Tanner has loved Bailey Morrell, a beautiful Healer, since childhood. But his duty as a Sentinel, a supernatural guardian of an ancient race, clashed with her rebellious spirit. Now a dangerous new anarchist group not only threatens life as they know it—but any chance of their being together again...

Scorpius Rising by Rebecca Zanetti
With a deadly disease spreading like wildfire across the country, microbiologist Nora Medina needs to focus all her energy on stopping the pandemic. Playing with dynamite—in the form of her way-too-hot ex—is the last thing she should be doing. But forced to work with Deacan McDougall against unexpected enemies with the seconds ticking by, she knows the explosion is coming...

Phantom Embrace by Dianne Duvall
Immortal Yuri Sokolov was born with the ability to see spirits, yet he's never seen one as lovely as Cat Seddon, the woman who haunts his home and his dreams. But amid their star-crossed love, a new danger may have Yuri facing a different kind of eternity.

Stake Out by Hannah Jayne
Vampire fashion designer Nina LaShay has a lot on her plate—just two days until fashion week and the model who was flirting with her photographer boyfriend is now a corpse in her studio. But when dead turns into undead and dangerous, Nina must find out who’s responsible…before the beautiful baby vamp takes too many bites out of the Big Apple.

My Review:
I just loved reading this anthology! I've really enjoyed the series that weren't starting in this book, and yeah, the Scorpius Syndrome had a fantastic start here! This was just a fantastic anthology of stories and I absolutely loved reading it!

On the Hunt was fantastic, giving us another look at the secondary characters or barely mentioned characters! And writing this review after starting Blood Lust, well, the events in this book are going to be important, because they set up for Blood Lust, dealing with the Brotherhood!

Scorpius Rising was really awesome to read! We knew that these doctors would fail, containment would fail, given the series title! But watching them fight to do so, and lose, and also dealing with their past relationship, yeah, it was so fantastic to read! Can't wait to read more of this serie!

Phantom Embrace was a bit bittersweet to read, given the events of Night Unbound! And I guess things all worked out in the end, though I don't know if they'll stay at David's house or not! Seeing as Marcus, and Seth, David and Zach are the only ones who can see them!

Stake Out was pretty hilarious! I'm a bit confused as to the timing with the previous short story and the rest of the series, and things were left a bit unexplained, but yeah, it was fantastic to read more about Nina, and it was a great end note to the series!

Absolutely loved reading this anthology, it was just so fantastic!

Week 51 Reviews: Born in Blood, Blood Assassin

From Goodreads:
In a stunning new series, Alexandra Ivy lures readers into the dark, seductive world of the Sentinels--humans outcast by their hidden abilities, treading the line between life and death, good and evil, pleasure and pain. . .

In The Heart Of Darkness

Sergeant Duncan O'Conner has seen it all before. Beautiful erotic dancer, murdered at home, no suspect, no motive. But there's one clue: she's missing her heart. It's enough to make the hard-bitten Kansas City cop enlist the help of a necro--one of the dead-channelling freaks who live in the domed city of nearby Valhalla. It's a long shot, but desperate crimes call for desparate measures.

Lies The Kiss Of Death

Unlike the other "high-bloods" in Valhalla, Callie Brown considers her abilities a gift, not a curse. But when she reads the dancer's final thoughts, she senses a powerful presence blocking her vision. This is no ordinary homicide. This is the work of a legendary necromancer who controls souls. A ravenous force that will put Callie's skills to the test, O'Conner's career at risk, and both their hearts on the line. . .literally.

From Goodreads:
They are the outcasts of humanity. Blessed with power. Cursed by fate. Driven by passion. The Sentinels have returned. . .

Out Of The Shadows

At six-foot-three and two-hundred-fifty pounds, Fane is a natural born guardian. A flawless mix of muscled perfection and steely precision, he has devoted years of his life to protecting a beautiful necromancer. But after she found love in the arms of another, Fane has been a warrior adrift. He swears allegiance only to the Sentinels. And no woman will ever rule his heart again. . .

Into The Fire

Not only a powerful psychic, Serra is that rare telepath who can connect to minds through objects. When the daughter of a high-blood businessman is kidnapped, Serra agrees to help. But when she stumbles onto a conspiracy involving secrets sects and ancient relics, her life is in mortal danger--and Fane is her only hope. Is the warrior willing to risk his body, his soul, and his heart, for Serra? Or will one last betrayal destroy them both?

My Review:
I loved reading these books! We did have the short story as an introduction to this series and world, but these books really let us dive into it! And wow, what the pool of characters, plots and romance was in these books! So great!

Born in Blood was fantastic! It also had scenes that set up for Blood Assassin, which was really great! And it had the mystery of who the bad guy was, and what they were doing, and yeah, it was just so intriguing to read!

Romance was pretty heavy in these books. Not just the physical side, which was strong, but also the emotional side, and the obstacles both within and without that they have to face to get together! And yeah, these couples chemistries were off the charts! Wonderful to read!

Blood Assassin's mystery was really deep and far reaching! So epic and amazing! What with their personal issues, they had a lot to face, overall! And yeah, the action was just fantastic! I really can't wait to read more of this series!

Yeah, this series is off to a really fantastic start, and I loved reading it!

Week 51 Review: Predatory

From Goodreads:
Four of today's most exciting paranormal authors take readers into the thrilling realm of vampires, immortals, and other supernatural beings with a thirst for illicit desire...

Out Of Control by Alexandra Ivy
Ph.D student Angela Locke has a crush on her sexy professor, Dr. Nikolo Bartrev. When she learns he's actually a Sentinel with extraordinary powers, she joins forces with him to catch a psychopath. But soon, their hottest pursuit is of each other...

Ties That Bind by Nina Bangs
Cassie Tyler agrees to sub for her friend at the funeral home where she works. But she gets more than she bargained for when a group of men attack her and a vampire comes to her rescue. . .

In Still Darkness by Dianne Duvall
Immortal Richart d'Alençon can't forget the woman who rewarded him with a sensuous kiss after he saved her from a trio of vampires. While Richart knows that loving a human can only bring trouble, the taste of forbidden lust is too great to resist. . .

High Stakes by Hannah Jayne
When vampire fashionista Nina LaShay's design contest rival is found dead, she's the prime suspect. Sexy photographer Pike is number two. He's the kind of man who makes Nina salivate. But will she have to reveal herself to have him--and to save them both? Or does Pike have a secret of his own?

My Review:
I absolutely loved reading this anthology! Thanks to Underworld Detection Agency series, I now have 2 new favourite authors, so yeah, that's awesome! This short stories were so fantastic to read and I loved reading them!

Out of Control is the first story in the Sentinels series, and it was a great look, this world was really fantastic! I can't wait to dive more fully into it with Born in Blood and Blood Assassin! Loved the characters, and how they beat the bad guy! So awesome!

Ties that Bind, honestly, I would love it if it became a series! Unless it already is, and just didn't mention that on the Goodreads page. Because the world was so well developed for an anthology short story! I loved the details, and things were left open ending, because the known bad guys were taken down, but there was the shadowy controller character out there still!

In Still Darkness was a fantastic story! We've gotten into Immortal Guardians a bit by the time this story is set, and yeah, it was great to have more time in the world! I really enjoyed watching these characters get their happy ending!

High Stakes was hilarious! I absolutely loved reading about Nina, and that she was having these troubles in the fashion world, well, she's been equipped to handle situations like this in the series! It was so wonderful to read! I can't wait to read more of the series!

This anthology was just amazing, filled with wonderful stories written by amazing authors! Loved it!
