OK, so I got 32 posts in 7 days, and it was a quite week, but I finally finished my 2021 reviews! Woot! I'm hoping to get halfway through 2022 reviews. If I could finish, that'd be great, but there's probably over 120. I do have this week off for vacation, so I have time, it's just if I use it on reviews enough...But yeah, I'm looking forward to having this week off! What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read what I want to read!

Week 6 Review: Graduation Day

From Goodreads:
In a scarred and brutal future, The United Commonwealth teeters on the brink of all-out civil war. The rebel resistance plots against a government that rules with cruelty and cunning. Gifted student and Testing survivor Cia Vale vows to fight. But she can't do it alone. This is the chance to lead that Cia has trained for - but who will follow? Plunging through layers of danger and deception, Cia must risk the lives of those she loves - and gamble on the loyalty of her lethal classmates.

My Review:
This was such a great read! For some reason, I thought I'd already read it, around the time when I read book 2. But apparently not! I'm glad to have finally finished out this series, though, because I had such a great time!

The whole reason for the Testing is o that the students who graduate, and become leaders, are able to make the hard choices. That if leaders in the past had been able to, then the seven stages wouldn't have happened. But having watched Cia and her friends go through it and the aftermath, they really need to find a better way to do it, really has been my main takeaway from the series!

The last book had an evil ending with that reveal. Andt his book picks right after, which I'm so glad! And Cia makes the right choice, to hand off responsibility to someone in charge. Who promptly puts it back in her hands. I felt so badly for her!

Oh, but that ending though? That revealed information? Yeah, that puts a different perspective on things. I'm glad that Cia chose what she did (all the choices that she made, really) because she's going to be an asset for the future, to make a better one!

This was such a great read, and I can't wait to ead more by Joelle Charbonneau!

Week 23 Review: Independent Study

From Goodreads:
In the series debut The Testing, sixteen-year-old Cia Vale was chosen by the United Commonwealth government as one of the best and brightest graduates of all the colonies . . . a promising leader in the effort to revitalize postwar civilization. In Independent Study, Cia is a freshman at the University in Tosu City with her hometown sweetheart, Tomas—and though the government has tried to erase her memory of the brutal horrors of The Testing, Cia remembers. Her attempts to expose the ugly truth behind the government's murderous programs put her—and her loved ones—in a world of danger. But the future of the Commonwealth depends on her.

My Review:
This was such a fantastic read! I'm so glad to have finally continued with this series, I loved being in this world some more, and learning more, and it was a really fantastic story! And I can't wait to read the final book, it's just so good!

We knew the events of the last book-but Cia doesn't. So that was an interesting dynamic. But when she finds the recording that she left herself, things quickly become more intense and I had to know what was going to happen next!

On one hand, this book is less taxing then the first, the testing is done and passed. But on the other hand, the testing was brutal, and these are the people who passed it, and who created this system in the first place, and she's in the middle of it all. Yeah.

With Cia and Tomas, and a few other characters that we previously met, like Will and Michal, there were plenty of plot strings to continue on from the first book. And the places that they went! And with that ending, I need to know how it's all going to end!

This was an amazing book and I can't wait to finish off this series!

OK, so I got 39 posts in 7 days, and it was a pretty good week-and a pretty fantastic weekend, at least for reading, though I got a bit behind on blogging! But I've almost caught back up now! What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read Firestorm, Thin Air, and Ladies' Night.

Rogue Weather Warden Joanne Baldwin is racing to New York to warn her former colleagues of the impending apocalypse. An ancient agreement between the Djinn and the Wardens has been broken, and the furious Djinn, slaves to the Wardens for millennia, have broken free of mortal control.

With more than half the Wardens unaccounted for in the wake of the Djinn uprising, Joanne realizes that the natural disasters they've combated for so long were merely symptoms of restless Mother Nature fidgeting in her sleep. Now she's waking up—and she is angry....
After preventing Mother Earth from destroying the planet, Joanne Baldwin lost her memories thanks to Ashan the djinn-and they will remain lost forever unless Joanne can recover her identity-and destroy the demon who is impersonating her, fabulous shoes and all...

Week 16 Reviews: The Testing Guide, The Testing

From Goodreads:
It's an honor to be chosen for The Testing. But it's not enough to pass The Testing. Cia will have to survive it.

The Testing Guide is the short story prequel to The Testing, the first novel in the stunning and epic Testing Trilogy.

From Goodreads:
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Isn't that what they say? But how close is too close when they may be one in the same?

The Seven Stages War left much of the planet a charred wasteland. The future belongs to the next generation's chosen few who must rebuild it. But to enter this elite group, candidates must first pass The Testing—their one chance at a college education and a rewarding career.

Cia Vale is honored to be chosen as a Testing candidate; eager to prove her worthiness as a University student and future leader of the United Commonwealth. But on the eve of her departure, her father's advice hints at a darker side to her upcoming studies--trust no one.

But surely she can trust Tomas, her handsome childhood friend who offers an alliance? Tomas, who seems to care more about her with the passing of every grueling (and deadly) day of the Testing. To survive, Cia must choose: love without truth or life without trust.

My first review of
The Testing GuideThe Testing
My Review:
I really enjoyed reading these stories again! I loved reading them the first time, but I never continued, so I had to reread them before I can continue on with the series! And I'm really glad that I did, it means that the details will be fresh in my mind!

I remembered the whole thing with The Testing Guide, that it was about Cia's oldest brother, and his attempt to be chosen for The Testing, and that it ended with Cia starting to study. And knowing what I know about the Testing, he's lucky to avoid it.

These kids have to be very clever, but they also have to be a bit ruthless. The Testing, oh, man, it was a cruel thing, putting these kids through such harsh measures. And the rules, what it allowed various students to do to one another? Brutal.

Loved her and Tomas, and when the final part of the test came around, I loved watching them work together to survive, and cross the finish line. To watch them navigate the devastated landscape, always on the alert for danger, it was easy to bond over that experience!

These were really great reads, and I can't wait to continue!

OK, so I got 38 posts in 7 days, I read a good number of books, so I had a good week, and I have some really great books to read in this coming week! What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read Harry's Day Off, The Warrior, Backup, Last Call, Curses, Turn Coat, Journal, Love Hurts, Bigfoot on Campus, Changes, Goodbye, and Ghost Story.

When it comes to tracking deadly paranormal doings, there's no such thing as a "Day Off" for the Chicago P.D.'s wizard detective, Harry Dresden.
New York Times bestselling author Jim Butcher delivers a hard-boiled tale in which Harry Dresdens latest case may be his last.
Let's get something clear right up front. I'm not Harry Dresden. Harry's a wizard. A genuine, honest-to-goodness wizard. He's Gandalf on crack and an IV of Red Bull, with a big leather coat and a .44 revolver in his pocket. He'll spit in the eye of gods and demons alike if he thinks it needs to be done, and to hell with the consequences--and yet somehow my little brother manages to remain a decent human being. I'll be damned if I know how. But then, I'll be damned regardless. My name is Thomas Raith, and I'm a monster. So begins "Backup" a twelve thousand word novelette set in Jim Butcher's ultra-popular Dresden Files series. This time Harry's in trouble he knows nothing about, and it's up to his big brother Thomas to track him down and solve those little life-threatening difficulties without his little brother even noticing.
Harry takes on the darkest of dark powers–the ones who dare to mess with this favorite beer.
Harry Dresden investigates how to lift a curse laid by the Fair Folk on the Chicago Cubs.
Accused of treason against the Wizards of the White Council, Warden Morgan goes in search of Harry Dresden in a desperate attempt to clear his name and stop the deadly punishment from taking place in this latest thrilling addition to the Dresden Files series.

A little insight into what was going on in Morgan's head during the events of Turn Coat. WARNING: Contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Turn Coat, Changes, and Cold Days!
Harry and Murphy investigate a series of love spells with deadly consequences.
Finally, Irwin is all grown up and has a grown-up's typical problems as a freshman in college in "Bigfoot on Campus," or would have if typical included vampires.
Long ago, Susan Rodriguez was Harry Dresden's lover-until she was attacked and left struggling with the bloodlust of the vampiric Red Court. Now, she needs Harry's help. Harry's enemies have found the secret she has hidden for so long, and he will have to unleash the full fury of his untapped power.

Because this time, he's fighting to save his "child."

Harry's phone call in Changes.
When an unknown someone shoots him and leaves him to die, Harry Dresden hopes he might be heading to a better place. Unfortunately, being dead doesn't make Harry's life any easier.
Trapped between life and death, he learns that his friends are in serious trouble. Only by finding his murderer can he save his friends and move on--a feat which would be a lot easier if he had a body and access to his powers. Worse still are the malevolent shadows that roam Chicago, controlled by a dark entity that wants Harry to suffer even in death.

Now, the late Harry Dresden will have to pull off the ultimate trick without using any magic--or face an eternity as just another lost soul...

Week 45 Review: Verify

From Goodreads:
Bestselling author Joelle Charbonneau's eerily timely, high-stakes page-turner is destined to start important conversations at this particular moment in our history.

Meri Beckley lives in a world without lies. When she looks at the peaceful Chicago streets, she feels pride in the era of unprecedented hope and prosperity over which the governor presides.

But when Meri's mother is killed, Meri suddenly has questions that no one else seems to be asking. And when she tries to uncover her mother's state of mind in her last weeks, she finds herself drawn into a secret world with a history she didn't know existed.

Suddenly, Meri is faced with a choice between accepting the "truth" or embracing a world the government doesn't want anyone to see—a world where words have the power to change the course of a country and where the wrong ones can get Meri killed.

My Review:
This book was a really great read. I was pretty certain that it was going to stoke the fires of indignation in me on behalf of the characters, and it most definitely did that. This world that touted that they didn't have lies, well, Meri gets pulled finding out that is not true, and I just loved her adventure!

First off, I have to say, that the covers on this book and Disclose are just stunning. These are the kind of covers that I love, with beautiful colours. Plus there's the colours of fire, with the book, which goes pretty well with the content of this book.

Meri has had it tough recently. Her mom died, and her dad has fallen apart, leaving Meri to try and keep things running. But it gets worse when she finds out secrets that her mom was keeping. I felt so bad that she was going through this, and I just wanted things to get better for her!

But man, that ending! I think that it's a duology, I'm 80% certain, though it could be a trilogy or more. But I'm leaning towards a duology. And it couldn't end on a happy happy note, then there wouldn't have been much plot for the sequel. But I didn't expect how awful a situation the characters would be left in! But there is hope, and that hope will keep them going and I can't wait!

This was a really great read, and I can't wait to see where the sequel goes!
