The Bookworm Revolution February 2025 TBR

OK, so I got 53 posts in 7 days, and I had a pretty good week, I still had Jax, he's getting picked up today, but I got him an extra night because of how the flights are turning out. So I'm happy with that, and the reading, and reassembling my book room. I still have a lot of books to reorganize, but I'm hoping I'm in the final steps. What about you guys? Happy reading!

Week 5 Review: The Party

My Review:
I had such a great time reading this book! I've enjoyed a couple of Natasha Preston's books, but I haven't read all of them. But this one just came out, and it worked out for me to read now with my hold came in from the library. I'm glad it did, because it was a wonderful read! 

To be trapped in a castle, with pretty bad weather, then having a tree fall on one of their friends, not great. That they wake up and she's dead, and their phones are missing? Really, they didn't make many good decisions, kept splitting up, but I enjoyed watching them investigate who was behind this.

The mystery of what happened the night of the accident was a big question mark, that as events progressed, proved to be pretty important. That Bessie doesn't really have memories of that night complicates matters. With how vital that it became to the story, I really enjoyed it!

The ending was pretty abrupt. That there's a bunch of kills in a row, also revealing who the killer(s) were, yeah, that was pretty shocking. It was a bit out of left field, I might have missed some details, and every person was a suspect, including Bessie herself, because an unreliable narrator is a thing. But the way it was presented, I wish that there'd be a bit more set up. But that last paragraph, that was pretty shocking and well done! 

Loved reading this book and I can't wait to read more by Natasha Preston!

OK, so I got 32 posts in 7 days, and it's been a pretty great week, I read some really great books, and I can't wait for next week! Though the week after that, I'm more excited for, since I have it off week, and it's when House of Sky and Breath comes out! Yeah! What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read Echo North!

Echo Alkaev's safe and carefully structured world falls apart when her father leaves for the city and mysteriously disappears. Believing he is lost forever, Echo is shocked to find him half-frozen in the winter forest six months later, guarded by a strange talking wolf—the same creature who attacked her as a child. The wolf presents Echo with an ultimatum: if she lives with him for one year, he will ensure her father makes it home safely. But there is more to the wolf than Echo realizes.

In his enchanted house beneath a mountain, each room must be sewn together to keep the home from unraveling, and something new and dark and strange lies behind every door. When centuries-old secrets unfold, Echo discovers a magical library full of books- turned-mirrors, and a young man named Hal who is trapped inside of them. As the year ticks by, the rooms begin to disappear and Echo must solve the mystery of the wolf's enchantment before her time is up otherwise Echo, the wolf, and Hal will be lost forever. 

Week 5 Review: Awake

Of course, the dress was white. This is what I'm supposed to die in, I thought. Not many people knew what their last outfit would be.

I pulled it over my head. It fit me perfectly. It had long, loose fitting sleeves, a modest neckline, and waves of material on the skirt. I hated it.

There were no shoes, and I was afraid I'd have to run through the forest barefoot but there weren't a lot of options. Besides, I'd run barefoot over a bed of nails to get away.

"Scarlett, are you ready?" he called.

I looked in the mirror and took a deep breath. Time to fight for my life.

Scarlett Garner doesn't remember anything before the age of four-until a car accident changes everything. She starts to remember pieces of a past that frighten her. A past her parents hid from her...and a secret that could get her killed. 

My Review:
I was pretty excited to read this book. That synopsis went from 0 to 60 in zero seconds flat, and then it dialed things back down, and I just wanted to know what the heck was going on! And yeah, it was such a fantastic mystery! 

One complaint that I have, which, reading other reviews, says I'm not alone in, is the fact hat Scarlet can't remember anything before age 4. Almost nobody can, that's not something shocking. I can barely remember what happened last week. If it had been age 8, that would've been a bit more believable. 

The past that she can't remember and that is a threat to her now, is of a cult, and the fact that she was supposed to be a sacrifice. So that's a pretty terrifying situation, and it makes sense with the white dress, because cults and sacrifice makes me think ritual. 

I enjoyed her and Noah, it was a pretty insta-lovey, and the whole truth behind their meeting was about the ultimate you can get for sketchy. They were a really enjoyable couple to read about, and I enjoyed their romance! 

Really enjoyed reading this book, and I really need to read more of Natasha Preston's books!
