My Review:
This was a really fantastic series! I enjoyed these characters, of learning about this world that caused so much heartbreak and loss. And knowing that there was one man in charge, leading things to blame, and to watch one girl go from calling him Uncle Dolf, to being totally against the party, was pretty outstanding!
So according to Prisoner, Nazi means country bumpkin. And seeing as that's what the party is most commonly known as nowadays, it's one small thing that could in no way make up for the pain that they created, but a middle finger to them.
One thing that this brought up for me, is the question of, if after WWI, if the harshness of consequences for Germany weren't as harsh, would've WWII have happened? Which is haunting, because of all the people that died.
Both these books are mysteries, the first on the mystery of her father's death, the second on the death that Daniel was accused of. So it's that, combined with the fact that these took place mostly in 2 different cities, that made this books both connected, and different and awesome!
Really enjoyed reading both of these books, they had a pretty great ending, even with the knowledge that in real life, WWII came.
