26 Books to Read in 2026

So time to make 2026's list. I'm still working on all lists (but I'm getting close) but now for another year of books! 

This is my version of These Books Will Self Destruct in 12 months without the self destruct. I wanted to read books that I've had for a while, that I really needed to get read, but maybe I forgot about them or that I had them. So I have 2 lists, one for each way I have them, as physical books, and as ARC's, half NetGalley ARCs, and half Edelweiss ARCs.

A-Z Reading Challenge 2026

Yeah, still not much progress with this, but I ever have hope to get through the alphabet and start over again!

How it Works:
Read 27 books this year (easy right) One for each letter of the alphabet and one starting with an Arabic number. If there aren't any unread books for the difficult letters, then a book that has a title with that letter in it counts.

Once all the letters and the number have been read, it's time to start again!

Last Letter, First Letter Reading Challenge 2026

Again, only a couple of books were read, with books still from the beginning, I really need to read these books! 

What it is:
You pick a book, read it. Then you look at the last letter of the title, for example, "The Adventures of Tom Saywer." Then you take that last letter, and search you TBR piles for a book starting with the last letter, so continuing the example, someone could read "Rotters" next, and then a title that starts with "s."

Rules:
1. Have fun!
2. Read!
3. The last letter of the book you read must be the first letter of the next book you read.
4. Words like "the," "a," "and," and those such don't count as the first letter.

Some other details:
Sounds like fun? Hopefully!  This way, well, there's always going to be a last letter of a title, even if you have to spell out a number. And our TBR piles should hopefully go down a bit!

And if anyone would like to participate (hopefully you do!) leave a link or something? And a plea is going out: if people like this reading challenge (and I hope I'm not copying someone else's meme) would they please create a banner/picture thing for it since I'm helpless at that sort of thing? A-Z Reading Challenge 2023

Yeah, still not much progress with this, but I ever have hope to get through the alphabet and start over again! 

How it Works: 
Read 27 books this year (easy right) One for each letter of the alphabet and one starting with an Arabic number. If there aren't any unread books for the difficult letters, then a book that has a title with that letter in it counts.

Once all the letters and the number have been read, it's time to start again!

Last Letter, First Letter Reading Challenge 2023

I read a few more books this year, but still, a lot of these books are still there from the first round that I did. Opps! Must work on reading them! 

What it is:
You pick a book, read it. Then you look at the last letter of the title, for example, "The Adventures of Tom Saywer." Then you take that last letter, and search you TBR piles for a book starting with the last letter, so continuing the example, someone could read "Rotters" next, and then a title that starts with "s."

Rules:
1. Have fun!
2. Read!
3. The last letter of the book you read must be the first letter of the next book you read.
4. Words like "the," "a," "and," and those such don't count as the first letter.

Some other details:
Sounds like fun? Hopefully!  This way, well, there's always going to be a last letter of a title, even if you have to spell out a number. And our TBR piles should hopefully go down a bit!

And if anyone would like to participate (hopefully you do!) leave a link or something? And a plea is going out: if people like this reading challenge (and I hope I'm not copying someone else's meme) would they please create a banner/picture thing for it since I'm helpless at that sort of thing? Monthly ARC's March Round Up

So I've decided that I need some accountability with reading ARC's. So what I'm going to do, is I'm going to round up all the ARC's that are being released next month, just so I know which ones are coming out soon. And at the end of the month, I'll see how many that I read, and how many I didn't, and round up the next months. I know I'm not going to do well this month, because I only have half of the shortest month to read March's books, but oh, well. I honestly try to read ARC's as soon as I can, because my interest is usually highest right after I request it. So hopefully when the month before comes around to round these books, these are the ones remaining. I'm hopeful!

22 Books to Read in 2022

So time to make 2022's list. 2021 was a bit of a fail, I'm going to have to carry over half of those books, so I better read all of them this year, as well as all of these books! There's just so much to read! But I'm hopeful! I am switching things up this year, instead of a separate Edelweiss and NetGalley lists, I'm going to combine them, and have 22 total ARC's, just to not put too much pressure on myself! But it was interesting to put together the physical list, given that I'm not fully unpacked, and my books aren't all accessible-my YA paperbacks are double stacked while I figure out which bookshelves I'm putting where to fit everything into that room. But I'm working on it! I only have a few more boxes to unpack though!

21 Books to Read in 2021 Sign Up

So I saw this year people were doing 20 books to read in 2020. And I decided to try it out this year. I also decided to merge it a little bit with This Book Will Self Destruct in 12 Months, in that the books that I'm choosing for this list are ones that I've had for a while, and just haven't read yet. Though that just might be what this list usually is. I didn't see the start for those posts, just the middle, so I don't know what criteria went on those posts.

And I want to merge it with the Self Destruct bit because I don't want to unhaul books because I'm a book hoarder, but I do want to read these books that I've had for a while. With all the eARC's that I have, I mainly read ebooks, but I really want to make a list of physical books for me to read.

And yes, I know it's still September, but given how my TBR's go, I'm unlikely to read these books before the end of the year, so I'm safe adding these books. And I just wanted to make this post now!

I did try and pull from all of my shelves, my mass markets, paperbacks and hardcovers. But from that, I've seen some of my habits-I usually buy mass markets (which are usually adult) after I've read them, but do the hardcovers and softcovers (that are usually YA) are just a bit slanted that way, buying just a bit more that I've already read then ones I haven't yet. So this is predominantly YA.

The rest of the books that I haven't read are new. Though they'll be older for next year. Though hopefully I'll read most of them in the coming year, because it would be great to predominantly own books that I've read and enjoyed!
