R.I.P. Jax Paarsmarkt

Jax was put down this afternoon. He is the first that I knew that date that it was going to happen, before it happened, so I spent as much of the last 24 hours that I could with him, including sleeping on the floor because the couch was too small for his breathing problems. Last year, he started fainting after exerting himself, and it turned out there was a lump on his lungs. The meds didn't work, so it was just a matter of how long his quality of life would be okay. On top of that, he got congestive heart failure, his heart was getting bigger, and it was putting more pressure on his lungs. And he was okay with that for over a year. Then last week, he started panting after the littlest of movements. It was decided to up the meds and see how he would do. He got better for a few days, we got another week with him, but he got worse over the weekend. Since it was a long weekend, we said Wednesday if we could get appointment, and we did. I spent as much time as I could with him, getting pictures and videos. We all said goodbye to him, he was to the end a little vacuum cleaner and ate all the treats and kept looking for more, and sniffing all over the place. He was in my lap at the end, and he was gone so quickly. But he's no longer in pain, he's running around, he got to meet Winky, and play with Dobby again. I miss him so much, but I got to be there, say goodbye, the first time I've been able to, so I don't have regrets. We adopted him February 24th, 2019 (fun story, there were 2 possible dates of birth for him in his records), when he was just 6 years old, and we had him a part of our family here for 6 1/2 years. It wasn't enough, it's never enough, but he's not suffering anymore. It hurts, and it feels like a chain has been broken, that Dobby remembered Winky, and Jax remembered Dobby, but there's no dog to remember Jax. Holly might remember him, but that's not the same. And honestly, I'm feeling like odd years are cursed. We lost Winky right at the start of 2019, Dobby near the end of 2023, and now Jax, mid 2025. I know there's only odd and even numbered years, and the odds are pretty good, but this streak...especially since it hasn't been 2 years yet since we lost Dobby...yeah, it hurts.

He was a silly, special, unique, crazy boy. He was a little vacuum cleaner, eating everything that he could, including things that aren't food, and causing scares. He thought the snow shovel, the weed wacker, and other outdoor tools were either toys or threats, and always wanted to bite them, which wasn't safe. He always gave kisses, even near the end when he was having trouble breathing, and he should've been doing that instead of giving kisses. He frequently needed to be burped after having water. He snored so much, even after he lost the weight. He was a reactive bean, barking at other dogs, cats, people on bikes, squirrels. He didn't like to be dog handled, to be put on his back, but he enjoyed back scratch dances. He was a solid boy compared to all our other pets, not his weight, but his density or bones or something. He needed to make what he was sleeping on him smell like him, so he had to lick all the blankets before going to sleep, or even me. I got to the point where I had one blanket down on the bed for him to lick because the fitted sheet took too long to dry. He liked to soothe himself by biting a blanket, dominating it, and it was so funny to hear him breathe doing that. The way he reacted when we said the word golf, that we think was a hold out from his previous family. That he was ambivalent about car rides, but hated being in a car that was parked. We're going to miss you so much, Jax, you are so loved.

R.I.P. Dobby Paarsmarkt

Dobby was put down today. It's hard to write this post, I've been crying so much. But he's no longer in pain, worrying about cancer, going up and down stairs, or, what ultimately took him away from us, the infection in his bladder that caused him to pee blood and drink so much water that he needed to go out every half or or so. I first noticed the bloody pee the day of his annual check up in July, and he was on meds, and when we booked this years' cancer surgery (he ended up having 5 surgery for the past 5 years in the fall) he had it checked, and it seemed better so he had the surgery. But he still sometimes peed blood. He's been on different meds, and when it was tested it turned out to be e coli, and he had meds targeted for that. He didn't like the pills, we had to struggle with him to get him to have them, and he had to have them longer because he still was peeing blood. He finished the meds on Saturday-but he still had bloody pee at supper that day. When his sample was tested on Monday, it seemed clear. But yesterday, his pee was mainly blood. So he was taken into the vet today to be put to sleep. I got to talk to him on the phone right before and say goodbye, but I still have regrets. And I'm feeling pretty alone. But he's not in pain anymore. And he's with Winky-it's been almost 4 years since they've been together, 3 years, 9 months and 18 days. We got him just shy of my 14th birthday, and I turn 30 next year, so he's been in my life more then he hasn't at this point, and it's going to be hard when the balance tilts the other way. Jax doesn't know what has happened yet, we're acting a bit strange. But he's getting lots of cuddles and love.

So here's some pictures of my weird little old man, by himself and with his sister and brother, who loved to cuddle and give kisses even if he was half asleep, and gave me so much comfort. I think Fall was his favourite season because there were all the leaves on the ground to try to eat, and it wasn't cold or had snow to walk on yet, sometimes needing the coat or booties-he and Winky both rejected the booties. You were such a good dog even when you were a silly butt, and such a good boy. I love you so much, I can't express how much I'm going to miss you. Enjoy playing with Winky!

R.I.P. Winky Paarsmarkt

Today my dog, Winky, passed away. She had been ill, but we didn't know how bad it was until today when additional tests were run. It was very unexpected and I wasn't there because my family didn't even consider it happening. But she was in a lot of pain, and so it was decided that she would be put to rest. I didn't get a chance to say goodbye. This is a difficult time, and I'm not sure what blogging will happen because I do have meme posts scheduled. I am reading because it does help with the pain. She would've turned 11 in March, and she's the first major pet that I've lost. We still have Dobby, but we kinda always thought that he would go first because of the cancer he's had. We don't know how he's going to react, he's never really been away from her since they were born, but we're giving him a lot of love right now. Here's the main picture of her I use, for my profiles, the one I love the best.

I love you, Winky, and I know you're not in pain anymore. You were such a good girl and a good doggy. I hope you're enjoying investigating every corner and happening in doggy heaven. I'll miss you so much.

My Pillows Hate Me

My pillows hate me, because while very soft and comfy, they have apparently done something to my neck. It hurts to move it, and a bone just behind the ear is throbbing, and there's pink spots that are radiating heat, and it's constantly hurting or burning or stabbing, and this all started yesterday, and I'm really starting to wish for the weekday because the doctor isn't open on Sunday. Just wanted to vent, because I'm having trouble concentrating, on reading, on writing 6 reviews, and yeah. Just wanted to say that. Cheers.

How I Suffer

Ok, so you guys know how I said I love music? Well, here's some proof. I'm in concert band, senior band, and Performing Arts (we're doing the play, Beauty and the Beast, and I'm a milkmaid :) ) For future reference, I play the clarinet.
Anyways, today was concert band. This means being at school at seven, or earlier, and starting quater after. That means getting up at 6. AM. Not fun. Add to that the fact that at the end of period 1, I started getting this headache.
My headaches can cause a lot of pain, so during the switching of classes, I took 8 advil. Hoped that the pain would go away. Fast forward to 5pm, still have that headache, take 8 more advil. Fast forward to now, 8:30ish, still have this headache.
Add to that I have to stay after school for PA till 5, or 6, depending, and you have a not so happy me.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, during cb, my clarinet was acting up. So guess what it decided to do when I was packing up?
It popped off one of the buttons, the screws too loose to keep it on. Turns out all the screws were loose. That was certainly fun. Not. But at least I found the screw right away, and the, well, he's not the teacher, but he's not the student teacher-he's been a sub for years, and he has a lot of music related jobs, yeah, him, fixed my clarinet, yeah, so it doesn't have to go in to get fixed before I start the whole day again tomorrow, wednesday, for senior band. Yeah. Not.
But anyways. Finished reading Living With the Dead by Kelley Armstrong (I'm reading the series) and moved onto Men of the Otherworld. Clay as a 8 year old is really funny! Next book on the list (not counting nano books) is Frostbitten, which will be nice, since I want to know more about Elena and Clay's kids!
Talk later! Now write!
