In the wake of her transformation, the man she loved was entirely erased from his own mind, forcing her to reconstruct him from the memories of the people who knew and loved him.

An obsession with a beautiful serial killer entangles a vampire hunter’s daughter in an immortal sapphic romance in this enthralling gothic fantasy from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Lucy Undying.

Anneke has a complicated relationship with her father, Abraham Van Helsing—doctor, scientist, and madman devoted to studying vampires—up until the night she comes home to find him murdered, with a surreally beautiful woman looming over his body. A woman who leaves no trace behind, other than the dreams and nightmares that plague Anneke every night.

Spurred by her desire for vengeance and armed with the latest in forensic and investigatory techniques, Anneke puts together a team of detectives to catch her mysterious serial killer. Because her father isn’t the only inexplicably dead body. There’s a trail of victims across Europe and Anneke is certain they’re all connected.

But during the years spent relentlessly hunting the killer, Anneke keeps some crucial evidence to infuriatingly coy letters, addressed only to Anneke, occasionally soaked in blood, and always signed Diavola. Devil. The obsession is mutual, and all the more dangerous for it.

The closer Anneke gets to her devil, though, the less sense the world makes. Maybe her father wasn’t a madman, after all. Diavola might be something much worse than a serial killer . . . and much harder to destroy. Because as Anneke unearths more of Diavola’s tragic past, she suspects there’s still a heart somewhere in that undead body.

Having long exhausted any conventional sources of energy, life in the solar system is now sustained by a volatile, hallucinogenic substance called spermaceti, which is harvested from the brains of vast cetacean-like Leviathans that swim the atmospheric currents of Jupiter.

Finding herself with no money and little to occupy her groundside, the narrator (“I”) takes a commission aboard the hunter-barque Pequod as it sets out in pursuit of precious spermaceti. Once aboard, however, she finds herself pulled inexorably into the orbit of the barque’s captain, a charismatic but fanatically driven woman who the narrator names only as “A”. As the Pequod plunges ever deeper into the turbulent, monster-haunted atmosphere of the gas giant, the narrator begins to lose herself in the eerie word of Leviathan-hunting and the captain’s increasingly insistent delusions; the only thing that might keep her grounded is the bond she develops with Q, a woman from the wreck of Old Earth whose skin is marked with holographic light and who remembers things otherwise lost.

Tell Me Something Good by Court Stevens
Expected Publication: June 3rd, 2025
"This is a writer that understands people down to the bones. Her characters are fallible and hopeful, flawed and loving, and so real they have stayed with me." --Joshilyn Jackson, New York Times bestselling author

This is a story of the rich and the very poor. This is a story of an illegal auction with dire consequences. This is a story of murders past and present. This is a story of intertwined relationships and the silent ripples they leave behind, where love becomes a guiding force, revealing the lengths one will go to protect those they cherish.

Over twenty years ago, a young hunting guide in rural Kentucky was driving his boat in the early morning mist when his peaceful cruise was cut short by a scene so disturbing, he packed up and moved away. Nine women died early that morning, but it was linked to a similar crime in Texas, so the locals quickly wrote it off as having nothing to do with them.

Now, all these years later, when everyone has nearly forgotten about that grisly part of their past, one man's accidental death will bring everything back up to the surface. The locals who knew better can no longer claim it had nothing to do with them, and one woman, desperate to do whatever it takes to save her mother's life, will learn that nearly everyone in her life has been lying to her.

In Court Stevens's adult debut, she delves deep into the heart of a community, where some will learn that we don't always live to see the ripples we make, but we must make them all the same.

Yeah, June is starting off with a ton of books, I've read some of them and they were fantastic, and I can't wait for all of these to be released, I love these authors! What about you guys? Happy reading!

Week 8 Review: I'll Pretend You're Mine

From Goodreads:
Summer Ali has been making a name for herself in the music industry for years, slowly but surely climbing the charts—but the world doesn't know her stage parents are the ones who molded her entire public persona. Finally eighteen, Summer breaks free of their control and focuses on creating her own path.

Upon running into writer's block, Summer grows eager to take any opportunity to shake things up—even if it means agreeing to a PR stunt with child-actor-turned-playboy, Jules Moradi, famous for his tabloid escapades.

At first, Jules keeps his distance, maintaining professional boundaries. But as time passes, his walls come down, and Summer uncovers who he is beyond his reputation, and it's someone more like her than she ever realized. As the lines blur between fake and real, Summer begins questioning who she is and what she wants—and if her dreams are worth sacrificing her heart.

My Review:
I loved reading this book! I really fell in love with Tashie Bhuiyan's books last year, I believe, the kind of contemporary that gives me FOMO, because I could've missed out of something great if I hadn't have picked up her books, even though contemporaries typically aren't my thing, Tashie Bhuiyan has a way of creating stories that I love, and this one was another to add to the list!

One thing that I loved, was all the connections to her previous books, however small it was. The big one was that Jules' movie is directed by Mina (and Emmitt has a brief cameo.) A smaller one was that Summer's friend was an opening act for Third Eye.

I think all of Tashie Bhuiyan books, at least to this point, have featured pretty awful parents, and parental control. What was interesting about this one, was that Summer has mainly gotten away from that, her parents are no longer her managers. But because of her younger sisters, they still have that foothold in her life. And the anxiety of being the one in control, well, if things go wrong, it's because of her choices, and that's a hard position to be in.

Watching as these two fake dated, with real feelings started to pop up, not to mention that they actually started to become friends, yeah, I loved it! There's something so magical, yet so real, that come from her stories, and I felt that again with this book! I think I'll always pick up a Tashie Bhiyan book!

Loved reading this book and I can't wait to read more by Tashie Bhiyan!

Book Blogger Hop #330, February 2nd

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer's permission, Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013. Check out the hop here

Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

The Question of the week is:  - What was the last book you read in one sitting? (submitted by Deb @ Readerbuzz)

Well, it was hard to think off, but since the prompt was to read in one sitting, was Stay with My Heart by Tashie Bhuiyan, which I read August 20th, 2023! Absolutely loved this book, just obsessed! What about you guys? Happy reading!

Waiting on Wednesday #656, December 6th

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating!

Stay With My Heart by Tashie Bhuiyan
Expected Publication: January 2nd, 2024
From Goodreads:
From the author of Counting Down with You and A Show for Two comes a new YA contemporary about a girl who accidentally sabotages an up-and-coming local band and falls for the guitarist while secretly trying to make up for her mistake.

Liana Sarkar lives and breathes music, hoping to follow in the footsteps of her A&R coordinator father. Maybe if she succeeds, he’ll finally give her the time of day instead of drowning himself in work to distract from the grief of her mother’s passing.

When Liana accidentally sabotages an up-and-coming local band, Third Eye, she makes it her mission to steer them towards success—without them discovering her role in their setback. But as she gets closer to Third Eye, especially their enigmatic leader Skyler Moon, it becomes harder to hide the truth.

With both her heart and their futures on the line, will Liana be able to undo the damage she’s caused?

Just the one book kicking off the year, but oh, it's a book that I love so much, I love her books, and I loved this book and I can't wait for everyone else to read it! What about you guys? Happy reading!

I've already scheduled the review posts for next week, for books read up to Thursday, so there's only one more day of books to add, but that latest one right now will post at 11:50 AM, which is a bit terrifying to me! What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read whatever is left of my TBR!

Week 34 Review: Stay With My Heart

From Goodreads:
From the author of Counting Down with You and A Show for Two comes a new YA contemporary about a girl who accidentally sabotages an up-and-coming local band and falls for the guitarist while secretly trying to make up for her mistake.

Liana Sarkar lives and breathes music, hoping to follow in the footsteps of her A&R coordinator father. Maybe if she succeeds, he'll finally give her the time of day instead of drowning himself in work to distract from the grief of her mother's passing.

With both her heart and their futures on the line, will Liana be able to undo the damage she's caused?

My Review:
Yeah, Tashie Bhuiyan is now an auto-buy author for me. I binged her first two books (though opposite to publication dates) and I loved them. This book, the synopsis sounded really great, but I was still a bit nervous, because contemporary books still really aren't my thing. But Tashie Bhuiyan books have everything that I need to be entertained!

At this point, it's a clear theme in Tashie Bhuiyan books, that there's some sort of problem with the relationship between the narrator and her parent(s.) Which sucks for the characters, but is very much something that happens in real life, and adding in that they're all diaspora just adds another layer to the conflict. How Liana's bad relationship with her dad is tied into the plot, with him being in music, and how she messed things up for the Third Eye band, yeah, I had to read more!

I didn't read the whole synopsis right before picking up this book. So I had an uneasy feeling, and when that betrayal went down, oh, that was infuriating, on behalf of all parties besides the one doing the betraying! I felt badly for Liana and the band members, it sucked that he did that to them!

The anxiety I felt for Liana, to hold that secret close to her, because of how it would affect the band if-and when-they found out, it had my turning the pages so quickly so I could be released. And this story lent itself well to frantic page turning with short chapters. I had to see how everything would resolve! And it went to a pretty good place in the end, given everything that preceded it!

This was an absolutely amazing read, and I can't wait for whatever is next from Tashie Bhuiyan!
