OK, so I got 27 posts in 7 days, which is a pretty decent number, I read a good deal, and I had a pretty great week! What about you guys? Happy reading!

My Review:
It was so great to read this book! I enjoyed it so much, just like the previous books in the series, but more, because the series is growing, and that was just fantastic! So enjoyable to read-even the hard parts were great, because they moved things to where they got!

This book added so much to this world. There were so many twists and turns-besides the fact that this book focuses on Michael and Livingston Shaw, and that whole situation. So freaking amazing to read, there was just so much going on, it was so great!

There have been times of maybe there, maybe not paranormal elements, and this book continued that,  like the mention of the body of the child (which was pretty awful!) because sure, there are plenty of normal reasons, but there could've been something paranormal about it without reading it, and I embraced what happened in the book!

And seeing what this book was about, well, we also got developments in Sabrina and Michael's relationship, which has been hampered by the whole bio weapon in his back. So that was really fantastic to read about!

I just really, really enjoyed this book so much! Great book, part of a great series! Loved it!

My Review:
This was a really creepy, thrilling, and scary book! Especially when we were in the killer's head, and he was torturing people, it was just, like, a visual word fest of nails on a chalk board, because he was just that spine clenching terror of pain that you want to avoid at all costs!

So yeah, Melissa/Sabrina, has had a pretty hard life, her mom was basically the one any guy in town would come to if they wanted someone to sleep with. And then her boyfriend/fiancé is almost killed by being with her, then the guy scares her, sleeps with her mom, and her mom's boyfriend attacks her, she kills him in self defence, and when she runs away, a guy kidnapped, tortures, and rapes her for 83 days before leaving her for dead. But she survived. But now he knows that she's alive...

I didn't like Michael very much, at first, because yeah, he wasn't very likeable, that he was going to do whatever it takes to get her back to her home town, to catch the guy that did it to her, but also to his sister, and in a way, he blamed Sabrina for that, for not stopping him sooner. Plus he works for an agency that implanted a dirty bomb/tracking chip in his spine, so yeah.

Guys, either seemed to want to protect-and sleep with her-or they hated her, and yeah, there were a few guys around her, with her working as a cop, and yeah, that was somewhat of a stressful environment, especially with her past, and that she can't tell them the truth.

I really enjoyed this book, it was fantastic, and now to read the 2nd book!

My Review:
This was a really creepy book. Just like Cared in Darkness, there were chapters of the killer's POV, of him going around and doing his thing, sometimes giving little clues to his identity, sometimes red herrings, and all of the time, creeping you out!

The majority of this book (by which, I mean all but the first chapter or so) takes 8 months after Darkness, to where Sabrina is back at work, her boss really doesn't like her, her co-workers either want her gone, or to sleep with her, it feels like, and oh, yeah, she's a tiny bit famous from the coverings of what happened to her. Covers written mostly by the above "deceitful reporter."

The killer's creepiness, and his belief with the Greek Gods, the Fates, the Muses, and Apollo, I loved to hate, because while he punishes himself for lustful thoughts, he still kills these girls to fulfil what he sees as his destiny, yeah, creepy!

I felt bad for Sabrina, because she started to hear Wade's voice in her thoughts, and the thing is, what he's saying, what he said, are true to what he said when he was alive, which while this is a thriller, in the back of your head, you're wondering, is there a paranormal aspect building in this series. Just a little thread of doubt.

Yeah, I really enjoyed this book (and the first) and I hope for a 3rd book, because there's some unresolved problems!

My name is Maegan Beaumont and I write thrillers…

Okay, now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about the good stuff. Like, why I write thrillers.
A bit of background—I've been writing since I was a little girl. I've also been moderately obsessed with human behavior since I was a child… or more specifically, deviant human behavior. It makes perfect sense that at some point, these interests would intersect, but while I've always loved writing, I didn't always want to be a writer. When I was ten, I vividly remember being asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. It went something like this:

Poor, unsuspecting soul: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Me: A criminal psychologist.

Poor, unsuspecting soul: Why would a sweet little girl like you want to be a criminal psychologist?
Me: Because when a man chops his entire family up with an axe, I want to be able to understand why he did it.

Poor, unsuspecting soul:

Yeah... I wasn't as sweet as I looked.

For as long as I can remember, I've always been obsessed with understanding why. Why do people behave the way they do? Make the choices they make. Why does one person react to a set of circumstances differently than another… objectively, I can look at my moderate childhood obsession and realize that it had everything to do with my desire to make sense of chaos and my deep-seated need to control my environment. Yes, you’re saying, that’s all well and good—years of therapy have just paid off…

But what does that have to do with why you write thrillers?

Well…

It’s a two part explanation—my moderate obsession with deviant behavior and the fact that I am a control freak. As a thriller writer, I get to indulge both. I get to explore the dark side of human nature and manipulate people that I've created into doing and saying what I want them to.

Wow… that made me sound like a sociopath. Let’s try again.

As a thriller writer, I get to explore the dark side of human nature—those things inside us all that none of us want to admit to—and I get to tell stories about how we, as people, overcome that darkness. How we survive. How we ultimately win.

I believe that there is darkness inside every one of us. We’re all dangling over the abyss—it’s just that some of us have a firmer grip on humanity than others. Most of us would never do the things I write about—would never even entertain such thoughts. Most of us live in the light.

But there are others who've let go. Who've fallen. Who've allowed themselves to become monsters. These are the people who fascinate me. They walk and talk like regular people, but they've been corrupted. These people don’t just live in the dark. They embrace it… and when a poor, unsuspecting soul wanders too close, they get snatched up and dragged into the darkness. If they’re very, very lucky, they manage to break free. To find the light again… but spending time in the dark with a monster will change you.

And what do you do if the monster wants you back? How do you fight something you can’t see? How do you win against the darkness after it’s become a part of who you are? Is it even possible?

These are the questions I've been asking myself since I was a little girl—and as a thriller writer, I'm finally getting the opportunity to find the answers.
