OK, so I got 31 posts in 7 days, and yeah, it was a decent week, it was quite, I read a good number of books, and I have a number to read before the end of the month. Wish me luck! What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read The Gargoyle's Captive!

Grace is a monster hunter who went into her demon deal with eyes wide open. Years ago, her mother made the same choice and was never seen again, and the answers Grace seeks can only be found in the demon realm.

Week 12 Review: Sadie

From Goodreads:

Courtney Summers has written the breakout book of her career. Sadie is propulsive and harrowing and will keep you riveted until the last page. 

My Review:
This book, oh man, this book! I read her most recent book, I'm the Girl, which mentioned that it was a spiritual sequel to this book, so I had an idea of what I thought this book would be about, along with the synopsis. With what happened in this book, oh man, these were some difficult topics! 

Sadie has been taking care of her sister for so long, and when her sister dies, it throws her in a tailspin. That the case is mishandled, and the justice isn't found, Sadie goes looking for it. And boy, was she a good person to do that, she was tenacious and wouldn't stop until she found the bad guy.

I really enjoyed the way this story was told, we got Sadie's side of the story as she was going on this journey, and then West, narrating through podcast format, who is following her trail, trying to catch up to her, to try and help her. 

What I was most worried about, was if this book was going to have a similar ending to I'm the Girl, where the bad guy isn't taken down. And oh, that ending! Things aren't spelled out, of what happened, so it could have some positives, but most likely not, and it's heartbreaking and infuriating that this even happens at all. Children should definitely be left alone, but no one should commit violence against other person. 

I did listen to the audiobook, and it had a bonus chapter at the end, which was interesting, because it tied into I'm the Girl, what with West meeting the actor guy from that. I wish I could find it physically, so I could slow down and read it, but I loved what that chapter added! 

This was such a great read, and I'm so glad that I read it!

OK, so I got 31 posts in 7 days, it was a quiet week, but we were dealing with really cold temperatures, I think we were under a warning for most of the week. Plus it snowed on Monday, the first day that I came back to work, so that was fun! What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read Dead Letter Days! 

Dead Letter Days sees Eric, Casey and the others living in a lodge in northern British Columbia, where a message in a bottle leads to a cold case that will have Eric finally grappling with his past and preparing to move into his future with Casey.

Week 8 Review: I'm the Girl

My Review:
Oh man, this book! It was so gripping! I really need to read Sadie, because it deals with these same topics, given that the synopsis mentions that this is a spiritual successor. This story about this small town, dealing with this murder, was really great! 

Georgia was an interesting character. She has this image of what she wanted to be, and she worked hard towards getting there. But she also put blinders on so she could stay naive, so she could focus on her goal, and she made some really frustrating decisions. But that was part of her journey.

The mystery into the death of Ashley, this pre-teen who was going down the wrong path...it was a heartbreaking read. As the story progressed, as we learned about the politics of this town and how the Aspera resort uses its power. 

That ending though? That was so infuriating, that there's not going to be justice. But because Georgia doesn't have the power, the influence, to help make a change. I'm glad about what she decided to do, but oh, this is not a happy ending!  

I had a really great time listening to this book, and I really do need to read Sadie!

OK, so I got 32 posts in 7 days, and it's been a pretty great week, I read some really great books, and I can't wait for next week! Though the week after that, I'm more excited for, since I have it off week, and it's when House of Sky and Breath comes out! Yeah! What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read Echo North!

Week 5 Review: The Project

My Review:
This was a such a fantastic read! I loved this story about sisters, and about a cult that has kept them apart. I really enjoyed getting to know Lo and Bea, of both of their downward spirals, and how the Unity Project brought them in. It was such a great read!

I actually gasped when we got that Bea perspective, and she says that Lev Warren brough a girl back from the dead. That was a rumor that was previously introduced in the book, and that Bea was the one that started it...yeah, that was a shocker! 

I did find it extremely suspicious of Lev. First he starts a romantic relationship with Bea, who is underage when they meet, and is barely an adult when she becomes a mom. And then when Lo is a part of the Unity Project, he starts sleeping with her. And she's younger then Bea. I just found that extremally sleazy and off-putting of him. Especially since we were getting Bea's perspectives, of the doubts that she was having of the Unity Project, of Lev.

One thing that I would've liked, was the months on Bea's perspective, espcailly when it came to the 2017 ones, which the end of 2017 is where the story starts for Lo. I want to know if there was any overlap there, especially that last chapter. That was just so sad!

Loved listening to this book, it was just so good!

Week 7 Review: Defy the Dark

My Review:
I enjoyed reading these stories so much! They were really creepy, which fits into the defying the dark theme, and though I felt most of them defied it by the characters being there, not the characters  actively defying the dark. Most, not all!

Of the short stories, the ones that I enjoyed the best were the ones by Malinda Lo, Beth Revis and Sarah Rees Brennan, they were all creepy, and really great! I especially loved the way that Malinda Lo told her story, progressively going earlier and earlier in the night. Strange, but awesome!

I just absolutely am amazed, once again, at the diverse genres that YA can fit into! There were supernatural creatures, horror, and contemporary, all within a few pages, and all just so excellent! I loved reading them!

For me, a lot of the stories, had either we survived, so I guess that's it kind of ending, or pretty dark ending! Like Natural, she was thinking that society let them have it, and maybe one day they might be lovers and have kids, but for now, they'll learn in secret? Or Sunflower Something, where the girl's friend is dead, and that's just about it. So for me, this anthology was very dark! Like more so then the title suggests!

Such a fantastic anthology, one that I just love, and yeah, I just enjoyed it so much!
