Olypmic Read-a-Thon Start Up

So today is the first day of the Olympic Read-a-Thon, hosted by Random House Canada, and my goal is to read 10 000 pages, so about 33 books, give or take, but since it's a 2 week event, today to August 12th, well, that shouldn't be a problem for me!

Wicked Wildfire Read-A-Thon Start Up

Wrote that Review

So, as some people have mentioned, almost all of my 2012 review posts, well, they don't actually have reviews. And I feel really bad about that, especially since that's over 200 books. So I thought, I need a way to motivate myself to write these reviews! Most of the reason why I haven't been writing them (besides the sheer amount) is because I can't think of anything new to say, something that isn't what I haven't said for loads of other books since I find almost all books great, maybe 2 every year that I don't really get into, and it's basically either or, I either absolutely love it (with some things I didn't, but that's not common) or I don't finish reading it. So for a way to motivate myself to write these reviews, I started this challenge. So what it is.

Wrote That Review:
-Get motivation to write reviews with bribes of library and buying books
-motivation from other participates
-and when the reviews are posted, comments!

The last 2 are more what I'd like to happen, and it all really depends on interest, so here's to hoping that there's going to be some!

I'm going to be doing it weekly, starting tomorrow, where there'll be a link and stuff, since I have a lot of reviews to catch up on, and so hopefully I'll be seeing you guys and a few posts here! Happy reading! Oh, and there's a button below, the code, if you want to share it!

YA Historical Fiction Challenge Sign Up

YA Historical Fiction Challenge 2012 is hosted by YA Bliss, and it's a challenge to read a chosen amount of historical YA books. 

 Rules: 

• All Historical Fiction books must be YA or MG
• Books don't have to be 2012 releases.
• Anyone can join. Please link to a public (web) place I can find you.
• You can join at anytime. The challenge runs from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012

Choose your level:

Level 1: 5 books

Technical Stuff

This challenge will run from January 1st, 2012 until December 31st, 2012.
You can join anytime.
If you are blogger, leave the link to your actual post about this challenge.
If you are not a blogger, leave a link to where you will be keeping track of this challenge.

So there are two different ways you can set up your own A-Z challenge.

A - Make a list now of 26 books, picking one for each letter of the alphabet. For example: A - Atonement B- Black Beauty C - The Count of Monte Cristo D - Dances with Dragons etc.

OR

B - The lazy way: Make a list on your blog from A-Z. Throughout the year, as you go along, add the books you are reading to the list. Hope that by the end of the year you have read one book for each letter. Towards the end of the year, you can check and see which letters you are missing and find books to fit.

Each month, there' will be an addition to this main challenge. It might to read a book with both A and Z in the title or to read a book with 3 words that all start with the same letter. There might host a few random giveaways too for good measure. If you've got some idea for the mini-challenges, send them her way!

Since it is really hard to find titles beginning with X, the letter X just needs to be in the title somewhere.

I'm going with option A, since I have a lot of books to read, since I'm going to do more then 26 again! And with the mini challenges, I'm most likely going to have to add some books, so those will say that that they are a mini challenge book. Yep. So here's my list of 58 + 5 MC:

2012 TBR Pile Reading Challenge

The e2012 TBR Pile Reading Challenge is a challenge to read those books gathering dust on our bookshelves. Go sign up! 

Challenge guidelines:

1. This challenge will run from Jan 1, 2012 - Dec 31, 2012.
2. As we would like to see quality reviews linked up to our monthly wrap-ups, only bloggers can enter. Sorry about that!
3. Any genre, length or format of book counts, as long as it is a book that's been sitting on your shelf for some time now. Only books released in 2011 and earlier! NO ARCs and 2012 fresh-off-the-press releases allowed!
   
4. You can list your books in advance or just put them in a wrap-up post. If you list them, feel free to change them as the mood takes you.
5. When you sign up in the linky, put the direct link to your post about joining the 2012 TBR PILE Reading Challenge (You need to include the info + host list + challenge button. You can also grab the button code and add it to your sidebar!)
   
6. You can move up levels, but no moving down.
7. Sign-ups will be open until Dec 15, 2012, so feel free to join at any time throughout the year.
8. At the end of each month one of the hosts will post a wrap-up. Every wrap-up will have it's unique theme, a mini-challenge, a giveaway and place for you to link up your reviews from this month. For each review you link up, you will get one entry in a drawing of one book of choice from Book Depository. It's open to INTERNATIONALS. For participating in the mini-challenge you will get +1 entry.
   
9. If you miss a wrap-up post + giveaway, you can link up your reviews next month. Do not, however, try to link up one review twice - we will be checking ;)

2012 Dystopian Reading Challenge Sign Up

The 2012 Dystopian Reading Challenge is hosed by The Non-Relunctant Reader! Go sign up!



Rules:

• This challenge lasts from January 1st, 2012 to December 31st, 2012
• All books must be started on/after January 1st, 2012
• Crossovers with other challenges are allowed.

Important Info:

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon Start Up

Ok, so I just did the 24 hour read-a-thon, but I wasteda  lot of time with writing late reviews, and getting my It's Monday! What Are You Reading? and week 43 review posts ready for reviews. So I want to do another read-a-thon, plus, read-a-thons are fun!

Ok, so this week for the read-a-thon, I want to read Body Heat, Killer Heat, Living Dead in Dallas, Once A Witch, Always A Witch, How to Be Popular, The Way We Fall, The Juliet Spell, The Butterfly Clues, Deviant, and Ink Exchange. Yep. Hopefully more! And of course, I'm going to read every day, as much as I can. Because I love reading!

24 Hour Read-A-Thon Start Up

Ok, I'm participated in the 24 hour read-a-thon, and yeah. Hope to read a lot, but I kinda have to finish writing reviews. Opps. But then lots of reading! And today's ShatterDay, so slowly reading the chapters of that! Whoo!

The Reward Challenge Start Up

The Reward Challenge is almost the complete opposite to a book buying ban as you'll end up buying lots of new books throughout the challenge but only after you've completed a certain amount of reading. It's hosted by Good Golly Miss Holly, so thanks to her!

Here's my start up post, and I'm going to have to do this a bit differently from the other participants, on the sole fact that I don't have any money. So instead of buying books, I'm going to reward myself with requests from the library on books that I really wanted, but didn't have a reason to get (like for other reading challenges) At least, until I get money and can buy books. Some of the ones that I'll be reading are my netgalley books, books on my a-z challenge, Follow that Blurb challenge, and tour/review books.
