Book Battle February 2022 TBR

OK, so I got 41 posts in 7 days, which is a pretty good, I read some really great books, and yeah, can't wait for next week! What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read whatever I want! 

Week 4 Review: Gardenia

Then more girls start disappearing. Ivy tries to put her own life in order as she pieces together the truth of who ended Vanessa's. To save lives and for her own sanity.

The clock is always ticking. And Ivy's only hope is to expose the truth before it runs out completely.

My Review:
This was a fantastic read! I loved her ability to see how long a person has left to live, and how that was affecting her life-that her best friend died, and because she knew the number, well, what she said had her looking like she knew who the killer was. Which was not a fun position to be in! 

Ivy's life is pretty terrible. She has this ability to see a countdown of how many days a person has left to live, including herself. And all she wants to do in the time that she has left is figure out who killed her best fiend. Watching her do so was really entertaining.

I loved this mix of genres we had going on. Of course there was the paranormal aspect with her ability. There's the mystery with her best friend's death and the disappearances of these other girls. And there's a bit of romance, with her on and off again boyfriend Myers. It all worked really well together and I couldn't put it down! 

Oh, but that ending, that reveal of the killer? That was just awful! I wasn't expecting all those pieces to come together that way, but the clues were there, and I really enjoyed how it all played out! It was an excellent end to this book and mystery! 

This was a really great read, and I can't wait to read more by Kelsey Sutton!

My Review:
So this book was really amazing to read. My sense of this book was a bit wonky at first because these characters don't have memories. But with clues from the way they dressed, to the way the talked, meant that the time they lived in was historical, maybe 200 or so years ago. Details that are usually obvious, like when a book is set, so it was fun to suss that out!

The idea of waking up and having no memories, realizing you're dead, yeah, it's kinda a horrifying situation. To be named after what object you have on you, to not be breathing, to not need sleep, it's a strange situation. But Key doesn't have any time to get used to it before the first murder happens and everything spirals from there.

The mystery was pretty interesting, because there's their whole lives that they don't remember, that are the reason why this is happening. I enjoyed how Key slowly remembered bits of her life, and figured out what was going on! It was so interesting to read!

I feel a little silly, but I didn't realize where the title came from until I started the book. It's right there, named after the 2 main characters, Key, the narrator, and Smoke, the boy she can't stop looking at. I really enjoyed their story!

This book was fantastic, I enjoyed how it all worked out, and yeah, really loved it!

Week 19 Review: Where Silence Gathers

My Review:
Oh, wow, such a great book, that we got to be in the same world again, which was just so freaking good, and yeah, it develops, that we learn about Choices, most specifically Revenge and Forgiveness, but Lie and Truth were mentioned, and yeah, that was pretty off-the-charts great!

Alex was just really awesome, and while most of her behaviour is not advised, say, skipping school, checking out the guy who killed your family, building up the courage to kill him, and get Revenge, that sort of thing, well, the average teen doesn't have a family who's been murdered. So there's that.

I loved her choice between Revenge and Forgiveness, that it's a battle that's been going on for years, and that Revenge was her best friend, and how she thought she fell in love with him, but the Forgiveness showed up, and things started to change.

Lots of wonderful characters, and we got to see Fear a few times, and Courage, which was nice, and yeah, things happened, and there was the mystery of that her dad could see the Emotions too, and wanted to protect her from them, but it was eating away at him.

Yeah, this book was freaking great, loved the ending, the hope, and the sense of a new journey being started, and that she found the rocket that her dad had lost, yeah, that was pretty great, and how she convinced Joe to play something other then Elvis!

Loved this book, I'm hoping for a 3rd book, because I want to see Rebecca find her mom, and more about Alex's dad, because yeah, that's interesting!!!
