Week 32 Review: The Fallen & the Kiss of Dusk

From Goodreads:
New York Times bestselling author and BookTok sensation Carissa Broadbent returns with a brand new novel in the Crowns of Nyaxia series, The Fallen & the Kiss of Dusk.

Mische made the ultimate sacrifice to save those she loves – and plunged the world into an eternal night. Now, imprisoned by the gods and obsessed with revenge, Asar is desperate to find her again.

When a goddess offers them a final path to redemption – and back to each other – Asar and Mische embark on an extraordinary mission. Together, they must seize the power of the god of death so Asar may do the impossible: ascend to true divinity.

Their journey will take them through mortal and immortal realms, alongside both old friends and ruthless enemies. But as the underworld teeters on the brink of collapse and the gods prepare for a war, Asar and Mische must decide what they are willing to sacrifice for the power to defy death. In a game of vengeful gods and ancient betrayals, there are some debts that even love may not be able to repay.

My Review:
I loved reading this book! It's going to hold a special place in my heart, for being the last book that Jax picked for me to read, as well as being the one that I read on the day that he passed. I'm glad that it's a great book, and one that I enjoyed. Not that I thought I wouldn't since I love her writing and this world, and the first book in this duology, but you never know. But this lived up to what I wanted it to be and I enjoyed it so much, and I needed that.

After the events of the previous book, I needed to know what was going to happen next, how they were going to get out of that situation. I mean, being killed is something of a game-changer. Being ascended to a god, ditto. So I was on the edge of my seat, watching as they dealt with all of that.

I had no idea where this book was going to go. That it went on this quest, I happily followed along, as they gathered artifacts from the past, while both were struggling with their situations, her with being dead, and him with the voices in his head.

Each book in this series builds the world, and the stakes. The whole thing with Nyaxia vs. the White Pantheon, and the new developments there...yeah, I can't wait for the Bloodborn Duet, see what affect that's going to have on the world!

Loved reading this book, and I can't wait to see where this world goes from here!
