Some things you never forget…
Because they'll never let you.
Minutes after Arden Mayfair returns to her hometown, lawyer Reid Sutton appears on her doorstep. He warns her of the murder of a young woman, which closely resembles that of Arden's mother. Reid may be the man Arden left behind, but he's taking no chances with her safety. She could have seen her mother's killer. And the heartbreaking past between them won't stop Reid from protecting Arden with his own life.
My Review:
Yeah, I really enjoyed reading these books! I've really enjoyed Amanda Steven's writing, and yeah, this series was so great to read! I really enjoyed the idea of the children of the victims of a serial killer and the mysteries they encounter. Though only the last book was truly a Twilight's Child, the first one was a copycat, and the second was possibly his daughter and daughter of his first victim...
Each book had a short list of characters in the beginning, and one of them had to be the bad guy. Which sucks, because these were people that they were close to. They, as in one of the main characters. Not both of them, that would've been a bit too much!
Adaline and Ethan had a brief relationship years ago because he was trying to help his dad, and then the truth came out after she skirted some rules. Catherine and Nick met briefly in a professional standpoint. And Arden and Reid were childhood best friends turned lovers, until she miscarried. I really enjoyed the different levels of connection each couple had at the start of the books, and seeing their journeys!
I kinda would've liked to see some character overlap. There was overlap in the bodies found in the first book, are examined in the second, but I would've liked to see the characters, since they're kinda all connected. I would've also liked to have met some of the other Twilight's Children! But these are Harlequin Intrigue, so they are shorter, so it makes sense why those elements aren't in these books.
Really fantastic series, I really enjoyed reading it!
