A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.
We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from National Book Award finalist and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.
Read it.
And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.
My first review of We Were Liars
My Review:
I had such a fantastic time reading this book! Going in knowing the big twist, and seeing how it was laid out was just so great! I forgot so much about this book, so I'm glad that I reread it, but I did remember the one main thing.
The whole mystery of Cadence and what happened that summer that she can't remember, oh, I felt so badly for her, the pain that was coming once she found out. I can't even imagine. But I had a really great time watching as she went on this journey.
That this is a family of liars, they aren't good or bad, they're just people, flawed, and I had a really good time as all the lies and secrets started to come to the surface. The mystery of this book is so well crafted, and the writing kept me engaged with the story, I had to keep reading and find out!
Honestly, it's hard to write this review because I don't want to spoil the big reveal. It has been out for a while now, and most people know it by now. But I don't want to ruin the magic of the first time reading it, and watching the story unfold. It's just so good, and such a great book!
Loved reading this book, and I can't wait to read more by E. Lockhart!
