Week 23 Review: Wanderlost

My Review:
This book was so fun to read! Starting with getting her hair caught in the pantry, having her sister getting arrested for leading the cop out but him saying she assaulted him, to Aubree impersonating her sister on this multi-country tour, yeah, so great!

There were a lot of funny moments. Like the antics that the customers got into, because yeah, they've lived longer lives, and this is their reward-acting pretty of of wack with the people around them! And ones that were harder. Like losing most of her stuff pretty much as soon as she arrived at the airport.

I really enjoyed all these places that they went to! They were interesting, and yeah, it was getting a dose of history and culture without leaving my home, which is preferred. Doing them in person is not something I like-I would rather read!

Of course the impersonation thing had to come out, and that caused a bit of a snag, especially since she was falling in love with the tour company owner's son, Sam, who also had his grandmother along. Yeah, that was really a situation!

Loved how it ended, how it all worked out, and that she would continue travelling, because yeah, she grew confident over this book, and that was a great journey! Loved reading it!

Week 23 Review: True Letters From a Fictional Life

My Review:
Reading this book was really awesome! A story about being gay in a small town, where one of the only other person who was gay-but out-was beat up and sent to the hospital, most likely because he was gay. Yeah.

I enjoyed James, he was pretty smart, and he was a mix of kind and mean, because of peer pressure, because he was afraid. Basically the all american boy, 2.0, because he's gay. This should be a thing, that being gay is something that's accepted, and people are fine with it, because honestly? It's not bad. It doesn't harm anyone in an of itself-mostly, they're harmed just because they're different. And that's not fair. Which is a bit ramble-y, but yeah.

As the title suggests, the letters are true, what he's really thinking and feeling, and about what was happening, what was on his mind, to those that were a part of whatever had happened for him to start that letter.  And they were things that weren't right, or were on his mind. And that was really great!

The way he came out, wasn't exactly by choice, since some of the letters were stolen. And who did that, that was something that was a bit of a mystery. One that had a surprising twist, and one that hurt, but it worked, and in the end, he was happy and with a great guy, so that was good!

Really fantastic book, and I can't wait to read more by Kenneth Logan!

Week 23 Review: Out of My Mind

My Review:
This was such an awesome book! I enjoyed reading it and it was just plain wonderful! I loved this world of psychics and how it all worked! It was really interesting, and I wouldn't mind learning more about it *hint hint wink wink sequel*.

I really enjoyed Callie's relationships-with Charlie, with her mom, her mom's boyfriend, her mentor, and Jasper. They were all different, and she showed different sides to them, because only the last two of the list know about her powers. And yeah, she makes mistakes, she's human.

There were two main things in this book for me. First off, her visions, and how they slowly started to connect, the pieces of the puzzle. And her relationships with Charlie, her boyfriend, and Jasper, to whom she's attracted to. And yeah, that causes a problem!

I kinda read the ending before I was done this book. So when it mentioned her mom, and the codes and a meteorite. I though that her mom was going to try and prevent it from hitting the Earth. Turns out, not the case, she gave the information so that she could find out where Callie's dad was!

Really enjoyed this book, it was really great and enjoyable, and I loved it and how Callie grew in this book!

My Review:
This book! I enjoyed this book about journalism and diplomatic immunity, and falling love with the subject of the expose you're writing! It was such a wonderful and entertaining story! And the first contemporary YA book by Brodi Ashton! I can't wait to read what she writes next (while impatiently waiting for My Lady Jane later this month!)

I really enjoyed reading this book! Piper was n interesting character, she wanted to win the Bennington so she could go to Columbia for Journalism. And her ticket? Rafael, bad boy with diplomatic immunity. Who got away with most everything.

Things weren't always what they seemed-DI's only get two strikes and your out. But those strikes have to be pretty bad. And yeah, he shared some pretty intimate details of his life-that she put in her article. Which leads to the next paragraph!

Gah, but it was actually hard to read the last 3rd of this book. Because I read the ending before then, and I knew what was coming, and I could see it coming, but I wanted to avoid it, but I couldn't, it was a part of this story! I read it, but it was hard-I don't like awkward conflicts, they scare me! But it ended well in the end, so I was happy!

This was a really wonderful, amazing book, and I can't wait to read more by Brodi Ashton!

Week 23 Review: Rose & Thorn

My Review:
I absolutely loved reading this book! Besides being by Sarah Prineas, and set in the same world as Ash & Bramble and it has a very wonderful, pretty cover that I enjoy looking at! Plus, the story was absolutely wonderful and enjoyable and entertaining, and such a great retelling!

I wish that this was set 100 years after Ash & Bramble, if only that what Shoe and Pen went through would last longer then it did. And also, the fact that the spell protecting her was linked to a life, and in the valley that she called home, she had a protector. Guess who those two are? Yeah.

But that did lead to some characters who knew, or were related to the characters in Ash & Bramble. Like the leader of the Breakers. I'm pretty sure that it was one of Pen's stepsisters. Not totally sure, but that was the feeling that I got off of her.

I enjoyed reading about Rose, Griff and Quinn. Rose, breaking free from her story and three curses. Griff, son of the Protector and with a curse-eating ability, but that's not quite the full truth. Quinn, who is just a mystery wrapped in an enigma. But he has a story to tell, as well! Oh, and Timothy, granddaughter of two pretty important people in Ash & Bramble!

This book was absolutely great, and while Story can't be fully destroyed, I'm not sure if there should be a 3rd book or not. The world is wonderful and amazing, but it's been through the wringer twice!

My Review:
Reading this book was utterly fantastic! I enjoyed it so much, I knew I would, but yeah, nothing could really prepare me for this book! I love Kiersten White's previous books (and there's only two full length published novels that I haven't read yet) and this was just another one to add to that list of (be)loved books by Kiersten White!

Of course, it's very different from her other books-it's the darkest yet, and because of that darkness, it didn't have the same humour, and it's a retelling of Vlad the Impaler, but with Vlad as a girl. Some ways it's the same as her previous books are the deep characters and the beautiful writing!

I enjoyed this story of Lada, Radu and Mehmed. These characters were just complex, Lada with her unladylike brute strength and military-tactic mind, Radu with his cunning mind, and Mehmed, the son of a concubine and the third child of the ruler of the empire and became the heir. Mehmed, who wants to be the one whom their prophet talked about.

Family and relationships were a big thing in this book. The ones that Lada made, the strings connecting her to other people like her father and brother, the ones connecting her to Mehmed, the ones connecting her to her country. The ones that connect Radu to his Lada, his friends and Mehmed. And the ones that Mehmed had, to his father, mother, teacher, and his country. They made these characters into who they were, and they were important to this story!

Another element of this book, was the political scheming. That of their father, and then of the Ottoman Empire. Lada and Radu went from pawns, to pretty important advisors and they came up with some pretty hefty plans! Of course, there were also the plans that Lada made to get back home, even when it tangled with her heart's desires!

This book ended on such a vibrating note-and one that I hope plays out in the beginning of the next book! I don't want to miss a single thing!

Week 23 Review: What the Dead Want

My Review:
I must say, I enjoyed this book much more then Twisted Fate. I do wish that it'd been a bit longer, and that things had come together a bit more, but all in all, this was a really great, enjoyable, creepy book! And yeah, one that I enjoyed reading!

The ghosts and how they worked, that was really interesting. I wish that we'd learned a bit more about them-like, just who were some of those bad guys? And said bad guys didn't do much to actually scare off these kids, they were just slightly scary, and didn't do much to stop them.

I'm wondering about something. Fidelia mentioned that the baby was a Axton. Which makes me think that the child wasn't her husband's, but her husband's brother, who she was in love with, and who was the one that basically got training in doing the underground railroad.

One big topic of this book was racism. Of how a group of KKK members, or just people around town, had a picnic while people with black skin were hanged, or burned alive in a church. And how they were unnamed, unknown. Well, Gretchen and her friends change that in the end, so yeah! That was a really great ending!

It was strange, and just the tiny bit unfinished, and it was wonderful!

Reading my favourite books and the books that introduced me to my favourite authors! They were just so great! Like Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Heart of the Dragon by Gena Showalter, Poison Study by Maria V. Synder, Legacy by Cayla Kulver, Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen, Struck by Jennifer Bosworth, Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, and many more!
