Week 18 Review: The Reappearance of Rachel Price

From Goodreads:
A new true-crime fueled mystery thriller about a girl determined to uncover the shocking truth about her missing mother while filming a documentary on the unsolved case.

Lights. Camera. Lies.

18-year-old Bel has lived her whole life in the shadow of her mom's mysterious disappearance. Sixteen years ago, Rachel Price vanished and young Bel was the only witness, but she has no memory of it. Rachel is gone, long presumed dead, and Bel wishes everyone would just move on.

But the case is dragged up from the past when the Price family agree to a true crime documentary. Bel can't wait for filming to end, for life to go back to normal. And then the impossible happens. Rachel Price reappears, and life will never be normal again.

Rachel has an unbelievable story about what happened to her. Unbelievable, because Bel isn't sure it's real. If Rachel is lying, then where has she been all this time? And – could she be dangerous? With the cameras still rolling, Bel must uncover the truth about her mother, and find out why Rachel Price really came back from the dead . . .

From world-renowned author Holly Jackson comes a mind-blowing masterpiece about one girl's search for the truth, and the terror in finding out who your family really is.

My Review:
I just loved reading this book! I've loved all of her books thus far, and I don't think I'm going to stop, they're just so well done, I love the mysteries and these characters, and I loved finding out what was going on! This particular case, wow, it was really unexpected and great!

Bel's life has been surrounded by her mom's disappearance-and probable death. And I can totally understand why she's angry about that, she was just a child, and she was abandoned, by choice or by threats, and to have it keep brought up over and over again, it was a bad situation. And then her mom comes home.

I had such a great time watching Bel unravel her mom's story, of where shew as and what happened to her. Her association with Ash, one of the crew of the documentary currently being filmed was so good to read, because she was honestly pretty mean to him, because everyone leaves. All these elements came together for a really entertaining story!

If ever there's a book that most compares to As Good as Dead, that Holly Jackson writes, this is the one at the moment that compares most closely, what with them having done a technically bad thing, and covering it up. But what had been done to them, there wasn't really a chance of justice, so that was really satisfying to read! Loved where things ended!

Loved this book and I can't wait to read more by Holly Jackson!
