A high octane sexy space heist from New York Times bestselling author Beth Revis, the second in a novella trilogy
Ada had no intention whatsoever to continue working for the rebel group that hired her to retrieve the government's plans for a nanobot climate cleaner if they weren't willing to pay her for it, but then they offer a different an undercover mission to a charity gala where Rian will be in attendance. Rian, meanwhile, has volunteered his services for the gala believing that the rare items up for auction will attract Ada's eye. Hoping to catch her in the act and pin her with a punishable crime, Rian has no idea that Ada's real mission is to convince him to join the rebels. And the rebels have no idea that Ada’s decided that kidnapping Rian is the most efficient means to an end.
How to Steal the Galaxy continues the sexy, rip-roaring good time that Beth Revis began in Full Speed to a Crash Landing, with the return of Ada, Rian, and all the tension, twists, and turns that made the first novella so much fun.
My Review:
I devoured this book! That it picked up at the event that Rian's notes thought that she might be at, was brilliant. Now that we've had a book in her head, and seen how her plans work out, I wondered if I could figure out her objective before she carried it out. But she was less coy in this book, though she did hint at things, it just wasn't to the extent of the previous book, I don't think.
This cover is just the kind that I love. The gradient of the colour, in the background is so very visually stunning for the eyes, and with their profiles in a star-studded sky, it's so pretty and I love looking at it! That it packages a fantastic story is another plus!
At this point, I'm wondering if it's possible I'll read this whole series before the first book comes out. If I'm lucky enough to do so, that'd be so funny. I don't think it'll happen, since book 1 comes out in August, and I read it in April, and got this one now in July, so it's probably going to be in October, if it happens.
Ada is justifiably angry. That this guy, who didn't invent anything, but bought them from the inventors, and made fistfuls of money, and being recognized as if he was the one that invented things, awful. His plans for the tech that's the focus of this series? Evil. I was thinking that they could reprogram it and instead of paying him to keep going, that he would pay them, which would drain his money and help Earth recover, but alas, I finally figured out that wouldn't work. If only!
I found it funny-sad that she kept telling the dude her true opinion of him, and he just laughed it off, not believing her, writing her off. Like, she means it, and if she had it her way, you wouldn't be laughing anymore. I hope she gets that last laugh in the end, ruining his plans!
This was such a fun romp, and I can't wait for book 3!
